I am glad to hear that this procedure was successful.
You are very lucky to have a good doctor, and good insurance. Many today cannot afford insurance, therefore, they neglect their health.
Thanks for sharing this. JW

Loved this!--My surgeon, after five years of this type of work-out, has a well-muscled torso and could probably crush a bag of walnuts in his armpit. LOL!!!
I had a hip replacement also when I learned that there was going to be a university alum trip to Peru, a place which I had wanted to see since I was in high school. The trip began in the winter, which is summer in Peru, so I had the hip replacement in July with no subsequent pain at all. However, just in case, I also brought a cane on the trip and finally got to climb up Machu Picchu.
We're so lucky to live in this time with advanced medical knowledge :)
Well done

Hi, Razz. Thanks for sharing your own positive story. That must have been the trip of a lifetime! I'm going to continue to use my cane, too, for a while. I'd gotten into some bad posture habits and the cane helps to keep my spine in better alignment until I adjust.
We are so lucky! Thanks for your wonderful and gracious review, my friend.
Warm regards, Bev

It's easy to see why this narrative has been deemed "All Time Best"! It is very well-written in every way. The inclusion of some wry humor is very effective.

Hi, peggles. Thanks for your good wishes and wonderful words of support. I tried to do a search to see if hip replacement was a covered benefit of your usual health care system in the UK. My search showed a number of private hospitals. I'm curious, does that mean someone in the UK can pay extra to have a certain service done by non-government providers?
Thanks so much for your generous review, my friend.
Hugs, Bev

Hello Bev
All persons here can go private if they wish to jump the waiting times and have the cash I think there still has to be a medical need for the likes of replacements and this verified by a doctor and there are many private hospitals or medical insurance company's one can pay into but really all UK subjects here will get all their medical needs if the doctors feel necessary for free the only exception is for traffic accidents these are charged but to the motor insurance company's not the injured person

Thanks, peggles. I was mostly curious about the protocol for determining a bonafide need and the waiting times. You've answered my questions and I thank you very much for that! Hugs, Bev

I could not remember if and why you had been away for some time. But now it is here for all of us to read. It sounds dreadful, but I know it is an usually well performed operation that cures the pain rather quickly. Glad to hear you are doing so well and it made a good story.

Hi, Ine. You and I have both been blessed by wonderful doctors, hospitals and surgical advancements. And thank you for caring about my progress. I'm doing great! Blessings, Bev
-
So good to hear that. I had a bit of an unpleasant surprise when I went for my first revalidation: my blood pressure is sky high and has to be regulated first before I can exercise. Ine
-
With the great blood pressure drugs available, I'm sure you'll be able to excercise soon, Ine. Good luck and God Bless...Bev

It is already quite a bit better this morning.

That's great! Keep up the good work, Ine Blessings, Bev

Hip, Hip, Hooray! And congratulations! Bev my friend, I am so pleased and happy to read about your courageous decision and successful surgery. With all the tools you mentioned, I know, I wouldn't dare to go for something like this. And, thank God for the insurance coverage, otherwise you'd be crushing bag of walnuts with your forehead. Thanks for sharing and God bless you.

Hi, ameen. Some folks took exception to my walnut analogy. But, I've had the guy check a surgery site on a formerly repaired knee and almost put me back in the hospital. He doesn't realize how strong he is.
It's always so nice to hear from you, my friend. Your generosity and kind support are so appreciated!
Blessings to you as well...Bev

I love your title for this essay, Bev, and I can't tell you how happy and pleased I am that all went so well with such a serious surgery. You tell your story so well, and I think orthopods would love this type of testimony in one of their journals. Congratulations on your new hip!

Well, I'd give it to my surgeon but he may not appreciate the bit about the walnuts LOL. Seriously, the guy is a shrimp with popeye arms. One reviewer mentioned that I sounded like I was in love with the guy. I'm in love with his skill, for sure.
Thanks so much for your generous review, your insights and good wishes, Karyn.
Love ya, Bev

Mom had a total knee replacement and the surgery went well, but because of her age and the sleep apnea problem with morphine and a ton of other side attactions we never had the second knee done...too bad because she would have been out a wheel chair for several more years..now at 89 it's not even a consideration. Yes, we are blessed, we tend to be spoiled to a point and self-centered in certian areas. God bless.

Hi, Janie. Thank you for sharing your mom's story. I'm sorry to hear she was not able to take care of the other knee. But, it makes sense not to take risks when the anesthetic could be more dangerous than helpful.
I so appreciate you stopping by to read my story. Your generous review is really encouraging, Janie.
Blessings, Bev

Loved the title of your story! A very excellent read, it flowed nicely and gives some hope just maybe some insurance companies work as great as yours did. My husband is having a lot of pain in that area. It has not been diagnosed as hip deterioration, but I have a terrible feeling it has to do with his hip joint. He hates to go the the doctor, but this has made him. Only an x-ray right now, waiting for results, but I'm terrified what the diagnosis will be. Anyway, the pain you went through was dreadful, sounds like a good outcome. Excellent, well executed story, loved it and gives me hope.
Blessings,
Wanda

Hi, Wanda. I hope that you'll share my story with your husband once you find out the diagnosis. It's a true miracle when you wake up and the day after surgery, except for incisional discomfort, realize that your hip pain has completely gone. That was my experience and the experience of many others. Good luck to you both and please let me know if your husband has surgery. I would love to offer prayer support for you both.
Thank you for your beautiful review and insights, my friend.
Hugs, Bev

Thank you for the encouraging words. Still waiting for a diagnosis. He goes to the VA, so it takes forever sometimes. Thanks.
