This is a very humorous and nostalgic look back at your father, who seems like quite a character. The writing is very engaging and your specific examples of your quirky dad make your father an endearing character. The photo was a nice added touch.

Thanks, gail. I thought a look at the real person would enhance the piece since he doesn't look like a clown at all.

Spitfire my friend, thanks for sharing this marvelous story, your father not only had great sense of humor, he was extraordinarily intelligent in teaching his daughter, and yes...had he grown mustache, he would have given Clark Gable a run, very handsome. Now, I know where you got that intelligence from, again, thank you my friend.

Thanks, my friend. Guess I do have a lot to thank my father for. Love the comment about the mustache. My Dad liked to act too and had a wonderful stage voice.

It sounds like your dad and mine would have hit it off just fine. We were kept in constant stitches from my dad's jokes. It's nice to hear other dad's were the same.

It is fun to reflect on our parents humnour. My father was from Kentucky and ahd all kinds of funny lines and words similar to your father's. The bean one has been around for awhile.

I know the bean story has been around. Now it's time to write about your Dad, huh?

yOUR DAD WAS SURE A GREAT CHARACTER - GOOD LOOKING AND CHARISMATIC TOO - i hate him! HAHA.

He'd season his food with "tlas" and "reppep"-- salt and pepper spelled backwards' - what a nutter.

Love his poems too - so cute! It seems you inherited his creativity.

I wouldn't have got 'stooped' either - well, maybe THREE years later.

Love the ending gag.

Great post, and the laughs are worth my sixer.

Best wishes, earl

Thanks, Brooke. I now think of Dad as a handsome man, but didn't my mind as his young daughter to see him as "hot."
