Alvin! We both entered this contest, I just noticed! Very different subjects though. I like your poem because it has much passion on it. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks for an excellent review. I am moved by your comments on my passion.
I am looking foward to our senryu class. Is there anyone you know that might be interested in it?

Not at this time dear Teach. I'm keeping my eyes open!

Under these circumstances Military Intelligence is an oxymoron with the emphasis on moron. Your poem points out where priorities are really mixed up. Good luck in the contest. A great message.

This is a sad scenerio, but so sorry
it is true. How can a wonderful and
honorable corporal be taken down for
being who and what he is?
This is America, dammit, sorry, but
that's how I feel.
You did a great job here and I felt
the emotion.
Lots of luck. Marie

Thansk for an excellent review. The situation makes me very sad.

Life is full of paradoxes and hypocrisy. People preach acceptance but cannot accept the things they despise.
Such is life.

Thanks for a good reivew. Where do you see it needs improvement?
-
It doesn't. It is fine just the way it is.

Ouch--quite an indictment about our values or lack thereof! I liked your using the ABC poem as succinct, social commentary. I am sad that this is a true story of what happened to your friend. Best wishes to us both in the contest (I have not posted yet.) -Joan, from New York en route...

I didn't know what to rate if your ABC or you author's notes, both excellent.
Every time I read about how it used to be for the gay men in the military makes me furious. I'm glad things have changed.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for an excellent review. My vacation time has passed so quickly--I wish I had had more time, especially to review some of your works. Is there anything you would like me to review?

Alvin,
That is so sad. It's amazing how ignorant ideas can last so long. Once we understand the truth - gays can provide valuable resources in the military & around the world - archaic ways seem so ridiculous. I'm so glad they rescinded that law.

Yes, I am, too. However, now my friend tells me it's worse, at least for the time being. Once certain people in the military find out one is gay, they can make it difficult for one to perform his/her duties. Thanks for an excellent review.

That is so infuriating. I pray God opens their eyes to see how wrong they are in their self-righteous behavior.

That is just horrible..I hate hearing that this is how our country treats people that are protecting us! Your writing is wonderful..and it got me mad..so your message was conveyed well. Thank you for sharing this story and best of luck to you in the contest!

Hello, Alvin.
This poem brings an important topic to mind. It is very well written and a most informative read. Your notes add to the effect with the ridiculous military double talk. I'm so glad that was abolished. However, if certain people achieve office we will all be set back by three hundred years! I wish you well in the contest.
Warmly, Rebecca

Thanks. Actually, my friend told me right now it's worse than it was under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Now that certain people in the military know one is gay, they can make it almost impossible for one to perform his/her duties. And, by the way, my friend's file on his discharge has been conveniently lost. Thanks for an excellent review.

Dreadful!
