Quite lovely a verse. Hymns have great meter with which to set poems by. I spent all of my childhood gathering wild berries from our yard and surrounding fields and woodlands--strawberries, blueberries, blackcaps, blackberries, huckleberries, and even wild grapes. I also loved the seeds of grains when I could find them. I didn't realize then how healthy I was eating--just that I loved them so much. Again, because of the hymnlike foundation, this could easily be set to music.

This is beautiful! It is all the little things in life that we forget to thank Him for...and all those little things really are amazing! Thanks for sharing!

This brings back fond memories of summers and blackberry picking and occasionally the find of raspberry bushes. I like the choice of meter and rhyme. Your sentiment is so right. No chef cook meal could offer something so divine, something that drank of the earth and grew in the sun.

Excellent! Your title makes my mouth water. I love the tone of this poem-very happy and thankful. I love the things you list here that make these berries so juicy and sweet and ripe. We are so lucky!! Such hopeful and uplifting words. Dana

What a way your have with words Brooke. this reminds of the huge Bkackberry patch on the southwest corner of my Grandmother's cow pasture. Ja, we went out spanking clean and returned cover in cowpies and berry juice and lugging buckets of those wonderful beries, which Grandma turned into pies. Wonderful poem that brings back such fond memories.

Just reading the title in the PM notice, made my mouth water, Brooke. Then, I wanted to walk in the woods, surrounded by the beauty of nature and drink in all that's been given to me to enjoy and take care of. Loved it!

Blackberries are my favorite, especially in a pie.... everything you have described is the summertime and and the hot, juicy, sunny berries that dribbles down the chin and leave one wanting more, and more and more....

You did it again. I love the graphic you chose, that blackberry looks like it is just waiting to be plucked off the vine. I can almost smell the scent of the ripening berries. It is one of our favorite things about summer- picking and eating before we get home with enough for a pie or jam.
