Such a touching story, and the photo too. It always amazes me how much animals get attached to people, especially those who love them.

    Hi Susan,
I am good. What snow? What cold? It's global warming in NY for sure. I do not like it one bit.
    Hugs,

I have given you my last six. I have been saving it for something sepcial and here it is. This six has nothing to do with you giving me one. Your story is very touching and so sad. It tells the story of what so many are going through. I love dogs and this also got to me. Amazing write Susan...you are talented! I can see why you liked my poem...The Poor Must Pay, as we think alike. A real pleasure to read your work.

It is a very sad picture and your story does it justice. I don't know who to feel the most sorry for the girl or the dog. I even feel sad for the house. It can be a cruel world and today economy makes this story all too real. Good writing.

I cannot give you the six I had chosen to rate this story. This broke my heart. Divot, my JRT has been snuggled in my arms all night and I cannot even imagine having to give any of my four leggers to a rescue -- let alone abandoning them with nothing. But it happens all the time, and desperate people do desperate things. God bless those who need it most. Well written and heartfelt.mmD

HI Deb! Thank you! And it really is the thought that counts! I appreciate that! AND I love this term, 'my four leggers'! How cute! :)) My cat is aging...and I cannot imagine the day I lose her. She has traveled with me all those years...from house to house and even some motel rooms. Thank you for enjoying/tho sad, this story Deb....xoxo! Susan

Hello again Susan
Here in northern Utah we see a lot of pets dropped off because my home is quite remote. I feed bunches of dogs and cats that have come along.
I just cannot let them starve. I find homes and as a last resort take them to the shelter, but hate doing it. On the bright side, I have no mice or rats, and no one comes with in a mile without me knowing it. I loved your sad story. It was and is moving

How kind and wonderful that you do this Bear. Really...I bet people sort of know that if they take animals to you they will be taken care of? I love that you do that. Never stop?? Thank you for this wonderful note...susan

The peice is very real and very sad, I was confused because it started with the womans perspective then the dogs, I think it would have drawn the reader in more by the story being all the dogs perspective, how he'd watch her open bills cry ect. Would love to hear more Blessings

Susan, Wow, you know how to make a grown man cry! Your story, to me, was a metaphor of the shattered American dream for many. Yes, the portion about the pet was heartbreaking, but the feelings of what is a happening to people all around this country hurt even more. Your ending was haunting and not easily forgotten. There's a movie I recommend that you watch, strarring Richard Gere. It's titled, Hachi: A dog's Story. It's based on a true story of a dog who waited for years at a train station for its deceased master. Blessings, Hector

My dearest Hector...I just watched Hatchi...and yes, I cried. It was true, tho happened in Japan?? I was just enthralled. What a beautiful story. I really believe animals have souls. That they love. That they know things. Thank you for reminding me of this movie that I have missed all this time. SOOooo sad...When I die, I want to see my pets again. They have been kinder to me than the people in my life. Susan
