I enjoyed reading this. I think it shows the conflicts of growing up. On one hand an infant is baptized and the parent's faith and works should keep us safe with Christ. But then comes the nagging spiritual issue. What about my responsibility and if all this was done for me, what about a personal relationship? After my conversion I went to the priest and he told me getting close to Jesus was great. But then he was stunned when I told him, no, it's different now, he's living inside me, I invited him in my heart. Stan

Stan, thank you so very much for reading from my profile. I sure appreciate your insights and kind words of support. Yes, Christ can only come to life when he comes to life through us. A great perspective, my friend. Warmest regards, Bev

Hugely impressed with the skill of the writing. The structure, the flow, everything about the presentation tells me the author is not just knowledgeable but dedicated as well. What I mean by dedicated is a willingness to do the nuts and bolts work of editing, proofreading and additional drafts to make the writing as good as can be.

A well-deserved 6.

***supported me; and I entered fully into despair***

What follows the semi-colon isn't a complete thought so shouldn't use a semi-colon

Hello, Jonesy. Thank you very kindly for your awesome review. I so appreciate you taking the time to tell me what worked for you in this piece. Your words of support touch me deeply. And thank you for catching that SPAG - those semi-colons are going to be the death of me! I am honored and humbled by your generosity. Blessings, Bev

Bev, this blows me away, moves me to tears. I have had some personal encounters with Christ that I did and do not doubt, mostly in the form of Light and a sense of His comforting presence, but never with a tangible voice. This "I love you!" was obviously not from a pale, wimpy sentimental Jesus but from somebody real.

I love the phrase "jousting with Jesus." Confronting God straight out and asking questions is something the prophets did. It's one way to take God seriously. (Not only do I use "Jesus" and "Christ" interchangeably but also freely use "Jesus" and "God" synonymously, believing the Father, the Son and the Spirit to be one.) This has the unmistakeable ring of truth and the power of an honest testimony.

When your husband said the framed pictures might have been moved by the wind, that is closer to the truth than he might realize, for "wind" is often used in Scripture to symbolize the Holy Spirit.

I have printed this to keep and will look at it some more.

Love,
Jeanie

P.S. I envy your private art studio, which has also served as a wonderful private prayer closet

Jeanie, I am just so moved by this beautiful review. I agree with the interchangeable nature of God/Son/Spirit. How can God ever be a separated part of itself? The Catholic Church has my allegiance, but it is going to have to change some basic problems if it hopes to thrive in the next centuries.

You've deeply honored me with your generosity and words of support and insight. Thank you so much, dear lady! Love, Bev

Though I am not a Catholic and have differing beliefs, I could read and appreciate your journey. It was well-written and succinct. Good job.

Bee, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your true story about "jousting with Jesus." I think Job did that too, according to the Old Testament. Your writing was very clear and provided a peek into your spiritual journey. Jesus speaks to us in many, often personal ways, we just need to be patient for his response (time is not an issue with him) and aware of how or what shape the answer will take. As I look back on my life, I realize he has and is walking along by my side. Blessings, Hector

Jesus and I were destined to remain in a sterile dance of avoidance./Great line----As I reached for my husband's razor blades, I heard a booming voice in my head say, "I Love You". The voice was male and it was relentless: " I Love You," it said, over and over in my head./I can believe that, because in 1992 I heard a similar voice. Although it had nothing to do with saving me from death, it was real in the sense that I just inherently knew what it urged was the right thing for me to do. I would imagine, just like you. Someday, I'll post my story about that on FS, when I finish SMTWF.----That elegant, perfect gesture was all that I'd hoped for and more. A cookie cutter miracle would never had touched me the same way./I think I know that feeling as well, sort of like having confidence, because you know it will all work out somehow.----I haven't been to a church in many years, but I've been sober 33 years with the help of AA and a belief in a higher power who eventually turned into the God I had known as a kid.----I was told I had some talent and I desperately wanted to believe I could produce something beautiful through my own hands./You probably did anyway, but it's your writing that shows me the real other talent that you have. This piece confirms that. Axel

I so appreciate this superb review, Axel. You've taken time to really digest my writing and responded from a personal, thoughtful level - and I'm very honored by that. Though Jesus is the name I am comfortable using for the Being of Light and Love, there are many other names and, ultimately, words simply fail to describe him/her at all. Thanks so much for your support and encouragement. You are a most gracious gentleman. Warm regards, Bev

I read this witness writing with great interest. I, too, have experiences that prove He has been with me all along. And, as you say, Jesus is not without a sense of humor which we understand being human and only humans have the capability to laugh, really laugh. The writing is high quality and describing a true experience adds a special meaning to the story.
