I loved the picture and the sentiment! And boy, can I sympathize. Living on a pension is so difficult. No one knows exactly how tight things are. I refuse to consider bankruptcy, I made the debt, I'll pay it. But, some weeks I have to decide between meds, gas, or food.

I relished your unexpected final line, making this a perfect cinquain with a turn at the end along with a significant title and specific syllable count. Neat cartoon as well! -Joan

I LOVE your title as a significant additional line in this satiric poem in excellent cinquain form
good alliterative grouping of means/money/mouth and in bad breath
great downward the final line

Hi ameen,
I love the humor in this cinquain poem. In fact I do like the cinquain form as it gives the poet more words to express themselves. You have done a great job with this one. Too funny! Blessings, chey

I would say you're buying the wrong brand of toothpaste. Great alliteration with money and mouth, and bad breath. The only other second meaning I come up with is use of money to support political leaders-- all leave a sour odor.

Yeah, would you believe that, the SuperPacs and all spending billions to support their candidate, it's literally buying democracy. I thank you my friend, appreciate the stop and the wonderful review.

Very funny! This is a clever message delivered in a very few words. I guess many have t cut back wherever they can. Too bad the results are not always pleasant. :) Nicely done!

Hahahahahaha! What else can a person say?? At times I think a person is best to chew an apple with the price of toothpaste these days ... and yet even apples can cost a small fortune! Now parsley could work ... but then it can sometimes be hard to get unless you have a plant. Ah who cares? Breathe easy my friend; bad breath is a sign of the times! Excellent work, thanks for making me laugh :)) Cheers xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxo

Comment from Jean Lutz
Only yesterday I was shopping for toothpaste, looking for the cardboard dangling beneath the shelf to tell me what was on sale. I was lamenting to myself that even basic hygeine things are unaffordable. Perhaps I will start making my own with baking soda and salt. At least your clever words and "Realist" art add some humor.

Hello Jean, my friend I appreciate your visit and the insight, that's what many in the poor countries do...make their own with baking soda/salt, thank you very much for the wonderful review.

You've made a comical assertion within the confines of a cinquain and I can't fault the syllable count, my friend. Peter
