You have some great analogies in this. Watching the birds "like groupies at a rock concert" is good. "Painting of indigo passion" and "ornithologist wannabes" are also outstanding. I liked the bird's acknowledgement of its admirers. Hope things don't get too cold for the bird. Very enjoyable reading. judi

I appreciate your positive comments and I too, hope this little bird is okay. It is cold and snowing today. Elaine

I enjoyed reading this poem and could hear the excitement and awe in your words at knowing that one little bird caused such delight. Good job and a nice presentation.

Your well-crafted poem is richly alive with colorful figures of speech. I find these especially effective:
"bird nerds," the "groupies" simile, and "winter tourist."
Good job!

You've described the excitement and interest which attend the arrival of a scarce or early bird, Elaine. The bird in your illustration could be a bunting or a finch. Did the report say what species it was? There are quite a few possibilities. Peter

The pic doesn't really fit the poem, it is suppose to be a multi-colored bunting. It does look more like a finch. Thanks for reading and enjoying. Elaine
