Your poem is written okay, and it looks as if the birds are in competition with an admiring onlooker. I am not sure that is the real jist of this poem, but sometimes it is difficult to explain how a poem comes across to one person, especially who is the main character.

One of my good friends is a bird watcher. He is a photographer as well, as many are. Some of the birds he posts are beautiful. Nice story of bird nerds. :)

I love how bird-watching is made so interesting, especially the comparison of buntings to groupies at a show. The reference to the newspaper article is a nice touch. Good job, it was a fun read.

What a beautiful tribute to a bird that forgot to fly south for the Winter. Exquisite in every detail as if I were watching it myself.

You poem's imagery is wonderful. As a bird watcher myself, I chuckled at the mention of bumbling human gawking at the much sought after visitor. Excellent imagery and easy flow. This one is a gem. Blessings, Linda

This was well done. I kind of felt like I was right there with the parts you added about the people falling over each other to get a look, etc. Great job with this :)

I love the neatness. A picture is alwasys useful if it is possible. I love the colors it goes with the poem. It could be set up a little better. Something isn't right and i cant put my finger on it though. Overall it was pretty good.

Wow, this little Bunting making front page news. Yes, a star
indeed. I am glad you have such appreciation and respect for the birds. WE WATCH IN AWE, LIKE GROUPIES AT A ROCK CONCERT. DESPERATE TO GET A LOOK AT THE STAR OF THE DAY. PUFFED UP FEATHERS, YOU SURPRISE THE BIRD NERDS. I love all these lines and more. I want to share this true bird story with you. Once I had an old chair out on the back porch. It was ripped and a little cotton was sticking out of it. A sparrow came and took a beak full of the cotton for her nest. It is amazing the things they see from on high. Who would think she would have noticed that chair with the cotton stuffing showing a little. Another time when my mom was pulling weeds, a lot of black starlings came around because as she dug up weeds there were worms there. She stood aside and let them eat. Then she dug up more weeds, and stood aside and let them eat more worms. Once she saw that there were worms there, she kept digging up weeds and they kept coming. They seemed to know she was trying to help them. I guess I am a bird nerd also. Thanks for sharing. I also look forward to your work. Your good friend and fan, Vonnie, nick name

Hi Mermaids, At the last line of the review, I meant to say, I always look forward to your work. I put also instead of always by mistake. Keep writing about the birds. As your write it makes people think about the wonder and beauty of birds. Then maybe they will try to keep our earth clean and safe for the birds, and loose some of the pollution, that bothers some species. God bless Vonnie

What a gorgeous painting!!
love the phrase bird nerds
and then the description of birders as being like groupies at a rock concert...
Great humor
as the ornithologist wannabes gather and gawk
at this bird who takes a moment to peer back LOL This is delightful :-) You should definitely send it to the Cape Cod Times!!! Brooke

An adventurist he was too. What a nice free style write to document his arrival. Beautiful and one that needs no explanation at all.
