Yes, what stories it could tell. Well-written, great flow, and just the right tone for this kind of poem. I enjoyed your poem and imagining what the stories might be.

Old barns house many stories. They serve a purpose and fulfill it. I liked how you listed children playing in the hay, sheltering cattle and withstanding the storms of life as examples of how old barns were used.

Old barns could certain tell some fascinating stores if they could relate all they have seen. You have written an excellent, free verse poem. Best of luck.

Interesting analogy, comparing the old barn to the old farmer whose life was so involved with it. Love your picture. Good luck to you, Jeanie Mercer

Hah, poor barn :(
I've taken so many pictures of abandon barns from my hometown. I find them so fascinating! Any old building really. Like you said.. the stories they must be able to tell!
Good job on this poem.

good use of occasional rhyme
vivid detail of setting that makes this old barn easy to visualize
good contrast between memories of what the barn used to be and what it has become with the ravages of the years
excellent alliteration in needed and new
excellent tone of praise for the ode - good luck in the ode contest. Brooke

There have been many times I have driven through country roads and looked at old barns and broken down houses and wondered what stories they could tell if they were alive. So I guess there are more of us that think that way. Nice post. :)
