Refreshing, heartwarming poem that flows smoothly and is full of humor and nostalgia. Ah, for the good old days around the campfire. Thank you for sharing this 'warm and fuzzy' poem.

That's a cute poem, I liked it very much. I noticed it flowed very well and it rhymed! Such a relief from all the sad poems we read every day. Children would enjoy it I know.
It would be an excellent bed time story a setting for pleasant dreams. Well done . Honeycomb

A lovely story and one I have experienced many times over when my children when they said they were bored. Just love camping and all your beautiful phrases brought it all back.
Perfect meter and rhyme. The tale bounced along with fast pace and a jaunty beat. A delightful children's poem, yet equally enjoyable for adults. I would enjoy reading this to my children (except they are grown up) and it would have been a much repeated favorite. I will have to save it for the grandchildren now. The alliteration in the names just makes it that much more fun.
Fine work and I have enjoyed with great pleasure.
Warmest Regards :) Lovinia xoxo

WOW

This reminded me of a story read to me when I was a child
It was called Mrs. Frisbe and the rats of nyme, If you have not yet read this than I do suggest that you do

I think that this poem story that I just read of yours was wonderful a great flash of the talent that you contain in your imagination so vast...I look forward to reading more of your work...Ron

good use of rhyming couplets
I like the dialogue between dad and children
Good steady beat when read aloud
good alliteration in sleep under the sky
and in packed them a picnic
and in flames flicker
A fun story of family camping and togetherness :-) Brooke

What a lovely story and beautifully told. You naintain the patterning and the rhyme scheme effortlessly. It's the kind of poem that children would want read to them over and over again and then later will read for themselves. I particularly like the sneaky inclusion of a lesson in the last line
"They'd make sure by being especially good!"
Very well done.

Sandra, you know how much I am enjoying this delightful series! It couldn't be more charming. With each chapter we get to know the characters just a little better. Now I am going to give my two cents and you can totally ignore me! It would be nice if there was just a little personal descriptions of the characters. Nothing big maybe just a long nose twitch from Reggie the Rat or Mollie Mole's tiny eyes...Just so each character is individualized, but I'm sure you don't need it because you will have beautiful illustrations. So ignore me completely, lol! One little issue...in the fourth stanza "already" should read "all ready" Such a trivial thing in a stellar work! Congrats again.

Sophia, you have no idea how much I value you comments, I really needed this, I am writing away and just hoping it is right! Now I will start to do as you suggest, it is a good idea to give them some idividuality. Thank you, I hope that as the next ones come up, you will be as helpful, and that 'trivial' little thing is about to be corrected, thank you so much, again! xsx

I enjoy your work so no need to thank me! I am going to become a fan so I will be notified when you post something new. I wish I was as focused as you are. I am just floating a bit right now with no real direction. I posted a poem this morning. i's like it if you get a chance to look at it. it's called "Reflections in the Glass". No worries if you don't have time.

What a delight to read, Sandra!
It's a perfect poem to read around a campfire or in a school library to a class of
young children (I've done the latter many times.)
I liked your jolly story. The rhyming is very good.
Great job!

Greetings sandramitchell, I liked this little poem/story and imagined reading it to a granddaughter of mine. It sticks in my craw to hear young children complain about being bored. I think we cater them with too much entertainment from outside sources when nature is truly the best, as your story attests. ;) Chrisfiore

Wonderful. I really enjoyed reading this (I'm a big kid at heart). It reaaly told the story well, the rhyming and meter was really, really good. I could see all the critters playing and having a nice time. This would be a delightful read for children. I don't have a six star to give... If I had, I would have given it!
