Ouch! My husband, who has studied and tried to strengthen democracy for thirty years, would say they simply represent the cross section of Americans. Not a happy thought either, but his point is that we can and should do better, but also that we hear more about the crooks than those who dedicate themselves to positive public service. Thanks for keeping vigilant and prompting the rest of us with your biting senryu. -Joan

Joan my friend, my reference is to those who are corrupt and care more for the lobbyists than you and I; as always, I am grateful to you for your wonderful review, thank you very much.

And unfortunately, the lobbyists are everywhere--even tugboats in San Francisco have them! :( -Joan

Hello, ameen.
This is a cool senryu and you did a great job finding that artwork. I guess this is applicable to all governments the way the news plays today.
Warmly, Rebecca

Hello Rebecca, I agree my friend, corruption is rampant all over in many ways, shapes and forms. I appreciate your insight and the wonderful review, thank you very much.

Kamran, my friend- so true, so true. They are even so corrupt, they are trying to one up on each other, just like the photo demonstrates. great job! Holly

A very strong statement here. I like the word "pit" which reduces the individuals to a status less than human. The word "crooks", too, is not one usually associated with honourable people. Thus your vocabulary is a strong indication of the attitude you wish to convey, and you do this very nicely in just a few words. Well done!

hello bowls, my friend I appreciate your visit and the insight; the constant bickering among our leaders/politicians with no empathy for the people who put them in office is beyond a third world country's tomfoolery. I thank you for the wonderful review. Have a great weekend.

I find your comment so truly sad, by which I mean that it is sad to think that this is the case.
It's not endemic, I'm afraid you probably speak for the rest of the world too. Only the seat of power changes.
Your evocative use of the word 'pit' creates a very graphic picture and/or mind image. (LOL.)
I would suggest 'Birds of the same Feather(s).

Correct! Like we say in hindi - ek hi thaili ki chatte batte :)
Very true, politicians have ruined the countries for their selfish motives,
a wonderful senryu written for that!
Pleasure to read and review!

Hello beti, thank you and you are correct...all politicians are crooks.
Comment from Peter@Poole
This senryu's structure cuts it. You make a clear distinction between the shasei and the satori. I dont' think all politicians are crooks when they get on the bandwagon, but it sure looks like many succumb to the temptations that power brings. Thanks for sharing. Peter

Haha a nice poltical satire I must say. They come and go, the face changes, but mostly the policies remain the same. Enjoyed reading this lovelu senryu.

Hi ameen,
I laughed when I read this senryu. You surely have the mind set of politicians right. The more childish they become the more they turn me off. I shudder to think how much longer we have to go before the election. God help us all...blessings, chey

Ya said a mouthful with this one. All the same, just two different sides of the same coin. Nicely done, and the picture really punches this one through. :)
