I enjoyed reading your entire reflection. It is fascinating to me why people write and what they choose to write. Yours gave me a very good read and I appreciate coming across your excellent work. Best of luck to you in all that you do.

This is great reflection on the year. I enjoyed reading your thoughts about writing, especially your feeling that poetry isn't your strong suit and that your great love is writing romance novels. Your prayers for 2012 are beautiful--I'd call that a poem. A lovely piece. Best wishes for a wonderful New Year. judi

Barbara, I have enjoyed reading your poetry. I love to see people evolve over time from their humble beginnings to the heightened awareness as they get better and better. I hate to see you leave that venue behind, but hope you will occasionally try your hand at it again as the muse nudges you. Then again, like a friend who comes into your life suddenly , stays for a while, then leaves just as suddenly... they were there for the time they were needed and served their purpose. Maybe this is what poetry was for you. If so, you will always have them to look back on in fond memory. I can't wait to see what you come up with for 2012. Warm wishes for a very Happy New Year! I can't wait to see what I come up with either. That's the scary part. Thank you for your kind review.

This is a well written article and the poem was well written and flowed well. Read aloud it read beautifully. Poetry is not about taking classes to learn it. It is about what is inside of you that needs to come forth in poetic thoughts and phrases. You spoke about syllable count. I never count syllables. I just read the poem after having wrote it. If it flows well, I'm satisfied. I may write poetic verse different then many poets do, but it works for me. Poetry is more about a love of the form and rhythm and the emotions that you can bring forth than counting anything as far as I'm concerned. I enjoyed reading this piece.I hope I haven't bored you here to much... John

You never bore me, the first part of the poem were things that reviewers wrote about my Freedom Costs poem. To be honest some of the comments hurt my feelings. I didn't feel they were constructive, only hurtful. Thank you for taking a look.

Some people think they know more than what they really do know. I always found you poems to be well written and from the heart. What more can you ask, than that...

you're sweet

I just read your Freedom Costs and loved it so I am not sure where you are coming from about writing poetry. And being an accomplished novelist-well...now that is a fantastic achievement which I will never realize myself.
Loved your sentiment, wishes and the artwork as well.
God's Blessings!

Some of the lines in this poem are from reviews of my Freedom Costs poem. To be honest, some of them hurt my feelings so I wrote about it. Thank you for the kind review.

I understand and thanks for sharing. I am new here but I have seen some negative comments that in my opinion shouldn't have been made. But, for the most part, ther are some wonderful people her as I am sure you will agree. Keep plugin at that poetic verse and show these people a thing or two.
God Bless and Happy New Year!

Aw. I think that you can be good at poetry, if you stick to free verse. You shouldn't give up so soon! Have a lovely new year.

Barbara,
There is a category called "writing," which seems appropriate to share to your experiences finding the genre that fits who you are as a writer.
I loved your reflection. Although poetry wasn't for you, it served a purpose. I'm sure what you've learned as you dabbled in poetry, will have a postivie effect on your prose writing as you move forward.
Thanks for sharing.

Poetry is different for everyone, poetry comes with feeling and with a love of the thinking word. Your poetry tell us a lot about you, you write your thoughts and feelings as they are at the time you pick up your pen. I loved your poem of Big Boy, that was written with the love and humor and in a sense, romance, you have with your dog. So carry on writing your romance novels, but don't completely give up on your poetry! Your poem, 'Reflections' is very good, it tells us what your were feeling and thinking when you wrote it. I wish you a Happy and Successful New Year. xsx

Some of the lines from some of my reviewers were in the first part of the poem. I appreciate your encouragement.

Love the self-deprecation, you're too funny! and really very talented. As long as your poetic efforts result in a little piece of your soul put down on paper (or keyboard) then you've accomplished your goal of being a 'poet'. It's harder to do than it looks, so thank you for sharing with us. Happy New Year!

Thank you for the kind review. I am not sure what to improve to get a five star, I am confused.

This is a very honest and bittersweet piece. I like the fact that you included a poem - not just a badly written poem but one which actually shows effort to strive to be a better poem. Really I don't know how else to word it. You got me "on your side" by reading this piece. Great work.
