Found this a very pleasant read that held my attention all the way. How lovely sunshowers mother fox and her young at the end of autumn. Then she leaves them to the season of the witch.

I wondered where this was going. Then I saw the last line. It's like a prologue to a fantasy novel. Your descriptive powers once again amaze me. Reading the beginning over again, I see where you have foreshadowed an intense and cruel game of the hunter and the hunted. Love "Shushes the mushrooms and the witch's whole oneness with nature, laying bare her body to the gods and the sunshower rains. Clouds and thunder at the end foreshadow this next season won't be so pleasant.
Again, I can see, feel, and hear everything you write. Splendid.

Hi Shari! Thank you for a detailed and encouraging review like this ... I am so insecure...like a little kid. SO sad. I am always so happy when you enjoy my efforts. Honored actually. I do hope you are enjoying some WARM weather...Wish I were there. Lord. hug! Susan

It's going for high 70's today, my friend. Stop caring what people think. That gets rid of insecurity fast! Wish you were here too. Have to break down and put up Christmas decorations today. L0L

Oh boy, 70 degrees. I could be out riding. And would be too. Well, maybe. I'd have to take about six extra strength Tylenols. Have a great day Shari! We are just getting started. Tired already! HUG. Suse

it's good to read something other than Christmas stuff. A very nice change. Enjoyed your little story on Christmas Eve. Well done and Merry Christmas, Buck

Susan,
This is an excellent short story about the changing seasons in the woods. I enjoyed this post and found one nit:
"...as raindrops the size of daisy's [daisies] begin to splatter and splash."

Wicca is a religion as older than any other. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an easy read. Wishing you A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hi Charlie! Thank you! I wish you a great holiday too! Wicca is interesting and I like the idea of it? Sort of worshipping nature, I guess. I often think God IS nature...? Interesting to think about. Please take care C! Susan

You're welcome, Susan. Thank you, Charlie

Wonderful detail of setting with nice touches of alliteration
I love the way you portray the mother's teaching of her kits
breaths deep the clean air - breathes deep
What a dramatic and poignant conclusion :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke! I fixed the misspell! I forgot to use the Spellcheck... Thank you for reading this, I'm SO glad you enjoyed it! I have a case of Spring Fever already! :)) Susan

I really enjoyed reading this story because of its gentleness. I found myself 'there' watching the fox and her kits (although I thought the word for them is cubs). Anyway, your descriptions were vivid and painted clear images of the scenes.
I remember once driving along a road and the lane I was in was being lashed with rain, yet the other opposite lane was bathed in sunshine. Quite a strange experience.
Minor SPAG - para 3, line 2, should be 'worshipper'
Overall, a lovely read.

Hi there! I forgot to run spell check! AHHHH! Thank you! I did check about the kit or cub? And there are three possibilities, can't remember the third, so either of these is okay! Thanks for noting that tho! Neat that you too walked or drove in a sunshower? I am wondering what car you drive? I once out-manuvered a Porsche with a Mazda RX7 in heavy traffic...he was back there really P.O.d...I loved that. All it was, his car was more expensive and he was afraid of an accident. No, I was the better driver that day! OH SO LONG Ago! :) Merry Christmas if you celebrate! Susan

No prob's Susan. In answer to your query, I ride a supersports motorcycle (Suzuki GSXR 750) If you look in my portfolio, 'They Call Me Porscheslayer' will explain the nickname.
An RX7 is a lovely car and a bit of a handful I hear, so credit to you if you tamed that beast.

Aha! My son has a little Honda bike, and had a little Susuki trailbike when he was 10 and 11! I am older now and drive tamer vehicles. lol! I hope you have fun, and be safe! ")) Susan
