I remember meeting Will's family for the first time, it was at his sister's wedding, since it was late when we got home I decided to stay at his parents. That then brought up where was I sleeping. We both slept on the couch in the living room but we also had that. lol. I can't imagine a long distance relationship and how hard it must have been

I have a few suggestions and found some typos:
We drove straight to my apartment. Then had a few drinks and a long chat (combine these two sentences).
The marriage had been so unhappy (comma) partly as he strongly (don't need 'strongly') suspected that Kate had been unfaithful during their engagement period. He dated with (don't need 'with') a female.
I said to him: 'this I never did. I always chucked one, before another one came'. 'I liked not too complicated situations.' 'Mind you, I swapped boyfriends as often as I read books'. 'I lost count in the end:)'
'I feared they might try and talk me out of the engagement. So I made one of my few bright moves.' (I don't know who is speaking.)
We showed our rings, after introducing Robert of course (maybe rearrange this sentence, like 'After introducing Robert; we showed our rings'. They made no comments, neither positive nor negative (don't need the part after the comma).
Robert answered the phone (make sure you put a new person talking on another line). His mother asked (comma not colon): 'Where did I stay (I don't understand this question)?'
After this (comma) we had 3 months of traveling (comma) up and down every two weeks, which made a big hole in our finances (no comma), but strengthened our love even more. (I suggest practicing with MustangPatty's grammar club--I still need to do the next lesson.)

Nice chapter Ine, I had not read it before. Must have been a tough time, travelling up and down.... So sorry Robert's childhood was not a happy one, I think it has something to do with his father. People were very old fashioned those days, could be their age, I think my mother would have reacted the same...

I would just reading your posts out loud a few times before you post to make sure they make sense.

He dated with a female. (doesn't make sense and not sure why it's there.)

'I looked forwards to this instant family, that we never managed to get.' (forward)

The next day we went to my parents together. (omit together)

I knew then not if he did too? (doesn't make sense)
