place commas and periods before the quotation mark, not after.
the doctor's have informed the parents - drop the apostrophe
You make a great point with a compelling illustrative example - yes, sometimes it takes a kick in the pants to remind us that we have much to be grateful for and not all that much to complain about. Brooke :-)

Thank you so much with your help on my punctuation woes. I have gone back and corrected the errors. It is pretty sad that I'm a college educated person and for some reason grammar and punctuation seems to stump me. :o( I truly do appreciate your help. Thank you for your kind review.

some of the people on site who've taken my SPAG class are writers whose work I admire. There are lots of smart, educated folks who share your weakness. LOL :-)

I didn't know you offered a SPAG class. I might just have to take it. That is if I ever get enough money. :o( It would definitely be worth it to me. I don't know if old dogs can learn new tricks but it's worth a try. :o)

This is an eye's view of a typical morning and the feelings generated by dark and rain that cause us to have a grumbly mind about life but the viewpoint changes and things quickly gain perspective when we find out first hand what someone else has to cope with on the same rainy day. Good expository writing set forth with feeling and meaning.

Thanks Elly for your kind review of my work. Yes, it is rather attitude changing when one realizes just how much they have to be thankful for.

Very true..I sure don't want God to think I'm a spoiled child and back up and let me learn how blessed I was the hared way. I wrote and acrostic poem called "attitude" that you might enjoy. God bless.

Your attitude is so very commendable Jo! I am a Vet myself and I got a free dinner at AppleBees! That poor couple and that precious Baby, so sad. See we need to count our own blessings every day!

Hugs Betty

Justo,
You've captured the reason why we should all awaken with cries of thanks! Whether it be a poor little boy with seizures and another surgery pending or children alone or abused kids or starving kids...we have so much to be thankful for. And those of us who have been in the medical field (for decades in my case) have surely seen enough suffering that we should never, ever complain!
Good thoughts. Yes, attitude is everything!!!

Someone else's misfortune often opens our eyes to the fact that we are so lucky. An attitude of gratitude is certainly worth aspiring to. And early in the morning is a good time to start that. Good advice in clear direct language.

Very well said. All of us should try to have an attitude of gratitude. We have so much more than a lot of people do. Great read and great job.

Well said. It is so easy to get self observed. But you know our every day issues are prioritize. And as you did we then move our petty thoughts to the rear and become a humanitarian.

I really enjoyed this delightful story, reminding us to be thankful for what all that we do have, and stop whining about the littlest things! A very enjoyable piece, and carrying with it a powerful message!
