Hi kiwisteveh

Absolutely know the feelings described here - even know the ability to lose the same things!

Very amusingly put across, nice rhythm to it. Well done.

Thanks, Patrick. I'll put the popularity of this poem down to the fact that everyone knows how this feels, although I notice a few reviewers claiming it is their spouse who always loses things!

Loved the humour and the internal voice here...could almost hear the rambling frustration. The rhymes were effortless, great job.

Little kids and senile old folk seem to be the voices I manage best!

Ha ha... shouldn't laugh
but this is a bit like
the love of my life, always
misplacing things.. since
he puts them in the most
strange places... and guess
who has to find them!!
If I don't ask (when we are
going out the door) have you
got your glasses, got your
wallet and your keys and so on,
with him answering "yes" "yes" "yes"...
then he's sure to come out without
them.

Tis no wonder you won... congratulations,
my friend.. so deserved.

Margaret

I have an interesting split of those who admit having this habit themselves and those who blame it all on the spouse!

A wonderful and funny poem Steve. Thank you. I needed a laugh today. Very well written with humor dripping from each and every line. Your rhyming so well done it melted so well with the poem I had to go back and look to see if you even rhymed at all. Great job!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the kind words.
I am always thrilled when a reader tells me they got a good chuckle from my work. You may be surprised by my latest piece where the laugh doesn't come until the end of 150+ lines...

The end made me laugh and I'm always loosing stuff. I put my keys down so I don't loose them and then I forget where I put them so I wouldn't loose them. You search high and low only to find the one open spot you check last and you didn't look in the beginning only to find them an hour later.

LOL Steve. I can see how this won the contest. It is funny, but not funny if you are getting old and forgetful.. But you don't have to be old to be absent minded. My son is always leaving his wallet or keys laying around here then calling to see if I can find them for him. Thanks for the laughs.

Hey there. Congrats on the win. I certainly can understand why this won the prize. A really good romp that brought a laugh about aging. Excellent (I think you'd get a kick out of my piece, "Youthful Flair" !)

    Thanks, Judian.
I am certain I already replied to this review, so forgive me if this appears twice. I managed to track down your piece - what a prolific writer you are - I found the easiest way to get to it was to google it! A slightly more sobering take on aging than mine, but certainly thought-provoking.

When you open someone's portfolio, scroll down to the bottom of that first chronological page and you'll see "search portfolio" in blue. Click on that and the portfolio then drops down in alphabetical order! Sorry, I just assumed you knew. Yes, it must have taken ages and much frustration before you found it.
Did you have a laugh? Thank you

Ah, you learm something every day - I think I may have tried looking elsewhere for a 'search' function, but have never noticed it there in the portfolio. I actually scrolled through about 10 pages before going to Plan B - that actually worked really well - I just googled your name, Fanstory and title and it took me straight to it.
    Thanks for the tip.
