I have two hummingbird feeders. They are so beautiful. I also have several bushs when they are in bloom the hummingbirds visit daily. Very rich in detail.

I love the bird and the mantis and the tree frog so small he would fit on the face of a nickel. This is so specific. Your play-by play description of small minutes in time are delicious. Love the shower on the mantis and his disgruntlement; the journey of the hummingbird to find liquid left by humans and letting her DNA guide her back! I can see Disney making a sweet cartoon scene out of this. It's mesmerizing.

Hi Shari! WHAT an honor! A six from you... I am so thrilled! WOW! I am so pleased that you approve of this one. And wouldn't it be neat for us to have Disney pick up our stories, scripts, etc...? We can only dream! Thanks again Miss Spitfire....susan

Susan,

This is an excellent poem about a hummingbird's last day in his summer range. I enjoyed this post and couldn't find anything to criticize.

My wife has filled our hummingbird feeder for the last time this year.

Hi Dave! Thank you! I took mine down a couple of weeks ago...and maybe should have waited? I saw a tiny female two days ago...she was in our dried up flowers. I sure hope she makes it! ") Thanks again...your time for me is much appreciated Dave. I hope your wife liked this story too? Susan

This is very sweet, Suse. I am fascintated by hummingbirds, too. I like the way you described
the miffed mantis. I could see his disdain. Your writing about nature always has an honest and heart-felt feel.
I think your want to either fly, or gallop.

Peace, Lee

Hey, Lee! Thanks for reviewing this. It's sad to see the birds leave...I saw a little female just a couple of days ago...she was flitting around so fast...as if in a hurry. I hope she makes it safely...and yes, I will fly someday. Probably the day I die. lol. Just hope it's up, not down. Nice to hear from you! S.

I think I watched the same show. Nature on PBs all about hummingbirds. I loved your story. It showed imagination and skill. Anne

This is a lovely story of the survival of the struggle of life. Your descriptions are superb and pull the reader into the story. I love nature stories and want to commend you on doing a marvelous job with this one.

HI Sasha! Thank you...I have missed the hummingbirds of my 'home' in southern Indiana...they were thick as flies down there...up here, not many thrive...I did see a little female two days ago...and had seen a Nature program about them...hence this story. I am happy you liked this...these little guys really are miracles of nature! ") Susan

HI Margaret! I am thrilled you enjoyed this one. I thought of you too, another nature lover, who writes about the little creatures too. I remember your little dog fox so clearly. ") Thanks for being here Margaret...xoxo, susan

Hummingbirds are such a wonderful sight to witness. We had a tiny one just two weeks ago flitting all over our yard, eating nectar from our flowers.

Hi William...me too, a little female was here just a couple of days ago...She seemed to be in a hurry, it's getting real chilly here...so, I bet she's on her way...I wish I could go with her. Thanks for this lovely review...Susan
