Bev, Another fascinating installment. Very good opening that shows Catherine's feelings and thus making her a sympathetic character. I like the lighting effects while Mia is doing her thing. You maintain the tension and mystery quite well. Blessings, Hector

You packed a lot into this chapter. I love the interplay between characters, and the hopefulness imbued for the sad victim of the horrible crime. I am hoping she will get peace and the investigation will be successfully mastered without too many injuries to the parties.

Most effective character development and vivid descriptive detail.
pierced the pall of decay - I love the alliteration in that phrase, the strong verb choice and the strong emotion

Thank you so much, Brooke. I did strive for better character description, so your noting of that really tickles me. I really appreciate your generosity. Warm regards, Bev

This chapter is another excellent addition to your story. And the way it ended, one is definitely left wondering about the information the books contain.
Thanks for sharing this. JW

Nice job, Bev, of furthering the action in this well-conceived chapter. Especially in the dialogue. I mean, even nasty-Chas get's to remind everyone of his unreasonable behavior.
I liked how you brought the issue of Emma's physical problem to conclusion: everyone stand back and let Mia do her thing. And towards the end of the chapter, in the library, you used Mia again to advance the plot by injecting risk into a simple stack of books on a marked up chair. Bet we are not done with that. And the title of the book on top - how appropriate!
So where to now, Bev? I am ready to inhale the next bit of action!

Hi, buddy. Thank you for your awesome review!! You've let me know what works and that is so helpful. I'm glad that the opening wasn't a yawn. Did I mention to you that I do paranormal investigating on the side? Anyway, been working to rid a family of a nasty ghost - done everything outside of bringing in a priest because they have no religious affiliation. Well, we did an EVP session recently to get clear on some things...and have a distinct voice in several sections of the tape. And this was in daylight - with no fancy computer. Been doing this for about ten years now and the concrete nature of the contacts, as well as clarity, has gone up several notches during that time. I've no doubt about life after death based on my experiences. Again, thanks so much for your generous support. You are a lovely friend. Warm regards, Bev

This really reads like supernatural fiction.
Have never read it, but seen the occasional film.
This is another god chapter I think.
Held my attention all the way.
Seemed realistic in this genre.
Thanks for sharing.

More paranormal intrigue, Bev. I think I told you that I love this paranormal stuff. I'm not sure I'd have the courage to do something like this though. If I saw a flash of light, I'd probably be off like a flash! Wondering about the strange marks and the satanic books. Good build up and a sweet cliffhanger. Look forward to more, my friend.

Hi Bev
A good addition to the book, lots of interesting detail.
Not as gripping as vicious invisible dogs - but I'm insatiable!
Made me ponder about where my treasures will go when I kick the bucket! I've got lots of books - my younger brother has never read a book in his life. I can see mine ending up down the tip!! Think I'll do what Shakespeare did, put them in the coffin with me. lol

Hi, Ron. My Lord, do you have a crypt waiting for you? Now, that's creepy stuff. I've only gone as far as a will and I can tell you my pen shook mightily before I signed it LOL. Thanks, as always, for your great review and support, my friend. Appreciate it! xx Bev

True story. We have a family grave with great-grandma to my mom in it. When I arranged for an inscription on the monument for my mom, the guy said would I like my name on it too! Be cheaper he said - we can add the date later. I declined!!! xox

Creepy factor 100+!! Hey, here's a thought, why don't you do a one act script around your experience? You'd do a great job with the oily undertaker. Hehehe

I'll slip it in somewhere. lol
