Hi Marcia! Just go to your voting booth page, it's started now? THere are three others that are good too! Thanks for this kind and welcome review, I am thrilled that you appreciated this story. I live just minutes from Battleground, where Prophets Rock is located. The prophet was Tecumseh's brother. And my high school was named after William Henry Harrison. Back then, I had no appreciation for it all, but I do now...") I hope you have a nice weekend Marcia! HUGS to Tabu too! Susan

Well it appears you really did your homework on this one. I've been studying the Pawnee tribe of late and have been intrigued by the history. This made for a good read and I certainly enjoy your smooth style of writing, not to meting learning a thing or two , which makes the reading more attractive.

Hi Stan! Thank you!! I am thrilled that you liked this! I did work hard on it, and enjoyed reading about Tecumseh. I live just a few minutes from Battleground, where Prophets Rock stands too! It's funny, how traffic whizzes by places that people fought, lived, died. And never think twice about the human aspect of it all. Thank you again. Happy Sunday Stan. Susan

I wish I had a 6 to give you for this. You have done a superb job bringing an important piece of forgotten history to life. My grandmother and great-grandmother worked closely with the Native Americans in British Columbia and I was so lucky to have met many well-known natives and listened to them tell stories of their childhood. This is a wonderful entry for the fascinating contest and I sincerely wish you all the best.

HI Sasha! Thank you from my heart. It's so neat that you had these experiences! Wow...I have met a few real Native Americans in my life and loved them all. I also went to South Dakota, to see the monument of Crazy Horse. The Indians that were selling goods in the souvenier shops were NOT friendly, they looked at all us tourists as if we were poison. And I really don't blame them. The government just never stops. I wish they HAD kept their lands. No matter the outcome. This country was THIERS! Period. Thank you again my friend...susan

You can find information on my grandmother online, just go to Maisie Hurley and if your computer doesn't accept PDF files just click the icon beneath called cache...My great-grandmother was the one who originally started the movement to help the Native Americans in B.C. and they are in the process of creating a museum in her memory with lots of Native American artifacts. Neither my grandmother OR great-grandmother were much in the way of mothers, but they did devote their love to the Native American...glad they did but strange in so many ways too.

I am so happy that this is a writing prompt for a contest. I wish I had seen it. I think our Native American history is dying and we are letting it die. I enjoyed reading your post. Thank you and good luck with the contest.

Hi Margaret! Me too, and the movies. "The Last Of The Mohicans" is my favorite of all time. The music and scenery alone just make me shiver. I thank you so much, your kind thoughts mean a lot to me Margaret. Thank you again...love, susan

The brother brought doom to the chances of victory. Tecumseh was a true stateman and a brilliant strategist. This is very well written.

Susan, you picked a great chief, and a very tragic moment in history. It was Tecumseh's dream to unite all the tribes against the common foe. No small task considering that tribes had been warring with each other for centuries.
There are persistent rumors that his brother, The Prophet betrayed him out of jealousy. This is a great piece, Susan.
How you ever read Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee? So good.

Peace, Lee

Hi Lee! I did not know this about the Prophet. I'll have to read more about him and the relationship. It was said that the battle was a draw? But that it broke the alliances between the tribes? How interesting. And I now live just a few miles from Battleground, and Prophets Rock. If you like, I can send you a picture of it someday. I have not read the book, but the movie "Wounded Knee" was something. I watch and read about these things and get so upset. But, what can we do now? Thanks again, Lee, I'm glad you liked this one. I worked hard on it...Hope you are happy and well. Susan

Susan, once again this is excellent writing. You've made history come to life. Tecumseh's words are so strong and wise and they show him to be a great man. I feel the Native American's were treated so badly by the white men. They should not have been pushed for the land that was originally theirs and slaughtered so brutally. I like it that in your story, the battle was theirs.
