She's getting her life on track and falling for Troy. He didn't want her to get blood on herself. I'm wondering if he has AIDS or some other blood related illness. I hope it's nothing too serious because his family is already attached to Michael and Anna.

Nice build up. As a reader we know that Anna and Troy are on the right track relationship wise. And we feel like she has the emotional, financial, and physical support she needs to face her abuser. I'm kinda of nervous about the next chapter. Here goes.

I'm really worried about that trial. Good tool for suspense. I'm really enjoying this story. You really keep me on my toes which is a good thing for me. Keep up the great work.

sticking out from the side of the cement table, [and] then reached into his back pocket.

"I guess you're safe, but[,] just in case[,] when you get back to work[,] be sure to wash your hands with soapy water."

"I think we can talk them in to it[--]if we beg."

"Good, that's a nice well-kept park. What I stopped by to tell you is your husband's domestic assault trial is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I don't think it'll last very long, but you'll need to be there. I'll speak with Mr. Keller with you." --- How long has it been since Bobby beat her up--a couple of weeks? The day after he got arrested, he had his initial appearance at which he pleaded not guilty and they would have appointed him a public defender if he didn't have an attorney hired. (Later, when he hired EricYoung they would have done a substitution of counsel.) Two weeks after the initial appearance is the arraignment. Three weeks after that is the pre-trial conference at which the prosecutor is supposed to provide the defense attorney with his copy of all of the evidence, and they both prepare the pre-trial statement. The prosecutor doesn't usually have it all so they continue it a time or two, adding another three to six weeks onto it. The defense attorney usually needs at least two months to prepare, so, at the last PTC, the trial date is set about two months down the line--depending on when the judge it's assigned to has his first opening, and whether it conflicts with the calendar of, in this case, the prosecutor since Paul isn't handling any other cases.
Next, since Anna is the victim and the primary witness, the prosecutor would keep her informed of all of these dates. Further, he would bring her in to go over her testimony. She wouldn't findout at the last minute like this.
Lastly, Bobby's trial is not going to be quick. Jury selection would probably take at least half a day. Anna's testimony, and cross; both officers who responded to the 911 call, and cross; the lab techs who analyzed the blood around the house to make sure from DNA testing that it's Anna's, and cross; the tech who analyzed the fingerprints and on the medicine bottle to make sure Bobby is the one who threw it on the floor, and cross; the tech who analyzed the spilled content of the medicine bottle to make sure it was Michael's antibiotics, and cross; the bedding, the torn nightgown; Bobby's blood work to show he wafs drunk and how drunk he was; the doctors and nurses from the hospital and Anna's and Michael's medical records, and cross. Did Ii forget anything? the prosecutor's case alone is going to take at least a week, and maybe more because the prosecutor and judge probably have other short hearings scattered throughout this time. then there's the defense, which I have no idea about so no idea how long it'll take.

I'll speak with Mr. Keller with you." --- She would have received notice of the trial dates in the mail, and also a subpoena to make sure she's there. She would show these to Mr. Keller, who would then have to let her off.

Paul would probably not go over her testimony with her because he's not involved in the trial, but the prosecutor would.

It is such a pleasure to read all your chapters. Each one is so well written. With each chapter, I can't wait to read the next one. I always am so very happy to see you post the number to the domestic hotline, because I think it will help someone and you might not even know it. Keep on writing. So many people are enjoying your story, Shirley

Barbara - you write in such a smooth and easy flowing way. I'm always sad to see your posts come to an end. Maybe someday you'll write a novel and I can read it all! Warm regards, Bill

This was very well-written. I haven't read any of the other parts, and it was still a pleasure to read and has peaked my interest enough that I am going to go back and read more. Thank you for the posting and many blessings.

It looks like Anna enjoys getting back to work. Work will take her mind off of Bobby and her coming divorce. I'm glad to see the misunderstanding between Troy and Anna has been cleared up. I think they will make a good couple.
