Enjoyed reading your acrotic. It has a lot of truth in it. I have a grandson , who in his early 20's and around the time of 9/11 ended up going schitzophrenic. Don't know if that helped to cause it or not. He's starting to remember things now. Hope thats a good sign. Very sad though...for anyone who is ill or disabled in any way... I have what is known as periferalvascularocclusive disease. No fun, just have to grin and bear it... Again, enjoyed reading. Thanx for sharing. ChowChow

I am so sorry about your grandson. I have major Depressive Disorder which has been to the point of being life-threatening in the past. It is now very well controlled. A good source of information is the NAMI website. I am quite involved in our local chapter which is very active. We just opened a Mental Health Wellness center Monday after about 5 years of planning. I will keep you and your grandson in my prayers~Debbie

dejohnsrld,
You acrostic for overwhelmed is creative and extremely well written. Your acrostic poem is in proper form. You do an effective and excellent job using metaphor in your acrostic. Your descriptive writing and use of alliteration are both very good. I like your LInes: "Venturing into more than we are able to handle Expecting more of ourselves that is reasonable Reaching beyond what we are able to grasp." I like your wanting to please, exceeding our abilities, leading the way thorough uncharted waters and high level of importance." The art work you used is cool and fitting. I enjoyed your thought pondering acrostic poem. I'd recommend you acrostic for the word Overwhelmed to other reviewers. Keep on writing with creativity and have a wonderful day.
Melissa.

Very well done for your acrostic. It says a lot about how we do become overwhelmed occasionally & I can relate to that. Your imagery & feeling are communicated in well chosen words. Good job!

dejohnsrld,

In this well prepared Acrostic you set forth many of the reasons for becoming overwhelmed. You stick to your subject well in expanding on the title of this poem.

I get the acrostic form in this; and, perhaps, what you are trying to do. The wording, however, is coming out like a laundry list rather than a flow of illuminations.

This would work, if there was a conclusion suggesting how this effects one, how it can be changed, etc.

I think this only needs a better wrap up to make it a very good poem.

I'll take a look at that-right now I am feeling overwhelmed with several things happening all at once-thus the acrostic~Debbie

You've aptly listed so many reasons why people tend to get overwhelmed by their own actions. Your acrostic is neatly presented, and I enjoyed reading it.

Expecting more of ourselves that (than) is reasonable

Been there, done that. So many of my children's generation(Boomers) are striving soooo hard just to maintain body and soul. Suddenly everything piles up so high that there doesn't seem to be a roof on it. It's time to prioritize. Take a breath, breathe in and out and take care of yourself, or all that you are working for becomes meaningless.
