What a lovely poem I expecially related to this verse
And when the Reaper comes to claim
My body as his own,
God's wonders I shall then acclaim
"And grace will take me home."

Thank you so much for sharing so that I might enjoy

I love the faith journey this poem portrays. I was wondering if it came out of a near death experience. You are obviously a person of deep faith; however, your poetry does not reflect the narrow views of many "fundamentalist" Christians.

My view of Heaven is more of that of William Blake than that of the Puritans. I think that's why I can be at peace. Thanks for a great review.

I like your write on eternity's call.

I think we all long for that return to oneness.

I especially liked:And when the Reaper comes to claim
My body as his own,
God's wonders I shall then acclaim
"And grace will take me home."

Yes, grace will take us home.

Alvin, this poem touch me very much. I'm meditating in your words here "I long for ocean fog and spray--
No wish to tarry here, For it is not my place to stay;
Mortality is mere. " For all accounts I was supposed to die at birth, a sick premie. God had other plans for me, I remember it every day!

Yes, I was a premie, too, so I understand. Thanks for a great review.

I believe your vision of heaven is somewhat like mine. Others may long for mansions and streets of gold. I just want to be with the Creator and creation as it was intended to be. Longing for the day when the lion and lamb lay side by side. Best wishes with this piece that displays faith so well.

This is absolutely lovely Alvin. Most especially this verse: "The Lord then sends me on my way
Upon capricious seas
Where I keep human cares at bay
And trust Christ is my lee." beautifully rhymed and metered as well. I loved it.

Alvin, this is superbly thought out and penned. The majesty of heaven blended with the beauty He has blessed us with here speaks volumes to the love the Lord has for his children. The poem flows seamlessly, and no errors were found. {Been in East Texas the past five weeks. Just got back. Dial-up only in that area, so I've been absent from FS quite a while.} td

Hello dear friend and teach! I give you a "qualified" six on this lovely piece because I have learned that I can not upgrade from a five to a six and I know you will pay attention as you choose. Gorgeous meter...my very favorite (iambic alternating 8 and 6 syllables). Perfect for the content. Tripped up a bit on "to the" and was bothered a bit by "me/me/me." Otherwise...simply beautiful. Sue

I would have been happy with a five. I see the problems of which you speak. I do like ballad meter.

Sue, the hospital time has give me time to check up and have things in chronological order. You're not the only one out of sync.
