Good descrition of a poet and what the poet does for society in general. A poet is also a miner for the deepest emotions that he/she can provoke from the recesses of the reader's soul.

Cally,
You come up with some of the most refreshing prompts! It's not surprising to read this delightful and intriquing definition of a Poet's Potential.I love the power behind this line:
A poet is 'an inventor of paradise and a destroyer of worlds'....pretty heavy!Thank you for this prompt, and sharing this excellent entry,

Beautifully crafted, and your artwork chosen was wonderful.
"a poet is a soul who needs to reach you."
Loved this line above. It just captured all that I do.
So I think this was very well done.
I wish you luck in the contest and thank you for sharing it.

Hi Cally
I really enjoyed your definition of a poet! You describe my own journey in poetic mobility so well. I often picture myself as a grammatical engineer, though I am still not published. What keeps me going is the joy of writing. And finding Fanstory, making new friends who share this hobby, has been like finding gold in the hills!
I like,
"A poet is a fantasizer, an inventor of paradise or destroyer of worlds."
Nicely penned! Good luck in the contest!

Wow!! Double WOW! I am really touched, Shirley, THANK YOU!!!
I think "chosen" is a good way of looking at it - whether you come from the angle of a higher power giving us these skills, or just from the angle that the blueprint for those skills are written in our DNA - chosen is what we are!! Mind you, I can't remember anything for toffee, and my co-ordination is apalling! So it's nice to think there's something I can do! LOLOL
Take care - Cally xxx

Wonderful explanation of a poet. I have never liked and appreciated poetry as much as I do now. It is what you said, the expressions and emotion.
