Well done Steve. Really enjoyed this - great topic (they all do exist I am sure!). Flows so smoothly, the rhyme is perfect and the imagery spot on. This is the sort of poem to frame and put on the wall with a suitable picture - the one you have chosen is just perfect. Well done!

Thanks, KC, for the kind review and the six stars. This one was a bit special, but I don't know quite where it came from - fairt-dust perhaps.

strong rhyming couplets enhance this lovely fantasy scene, Steve.
Vivid descriptive detail of these fairies riding bumble bees and filling the glade with their tinkling laughter :-)
I love all the creatures you include in their playful activities.
Nice use of alliteration, too.
This is just delightful - I'll have to share it with my fairy-loving daughter :-) Brooke

Thanks, Brooke. This one just came out of the blue - not my usual cup of tea, as you may know!
Actually, I would be interested in a child's reaction to this - Oops, there I go assuming that the fairy-loving daughter is still a child...

What a superb verse this is! A beautiful run through a world of fantasy. It reads smoothly, and it's filled with poetic tones. Your first stanza sets up the mood perfectly with fairies that ride on bumble-bees, and it's nicely wrapped up in the end when spirits all, drift off to dreams. Well done!

Enrique

Thank you, Enrique - I am so glad you enjoyed my magical little piece. It is not my usual style at all, so I am pleased to get positive reactions.

What a wonderful poem, I will be quite lyrical!
Great choice of words and beautiful imagination. If you close your eyes you can see it all in front of you, especially the fairies riding on bumble-bees. Great job. Fia

    Thanks, Fia.
This is not my usual thing and I had to work a bit harder to pull it together into an end product that satisfied me, but it has received great revies so the effort was worthwhile. I did specifically try for the sensory appeal so thanks for your feedback on that.

A little bit of fanciful fairy and forest delight Steve. You are definitely showing your femiine side in this piece and you took me back to being 11 years ago, acting the part of the Fairy to my 11 year olf Puck in front of the Victorian Shakespearean Society and all these awful people did was bury their heads in their books, just waiting for two little kids to make a mistake in Midsummer Night's Dream. Your poem was just beautiful and whimsical and thoroughly delightful. xx Carol

I think I have surprised a few of my regulars with this fluffy piece! It did work out well, though.
Strangely enough, I was not specifically thinking about Midsummer Night's Dream, although I do know the play quite well. I have never acted in it as you have, but I did write a computer program on it some years ago.

Now you're starting to worry me! This doesn't seem like the thoughts of a Real Kiwi Bloke (who's been in Aus....).

This is magical, lyrical..... Yin-inspired. The background colour - and the artwork - is also perfect.
I gave you Exceptional for your last work ..I should have kept it for this one (only 5s left). This should have been entered in the Show Me contest.
You have many facets to you - or you've been smoking de gunja a bit too much, living as you do in the Back of Beyond.
I wonder if your Description is a little nod (crack) at our last conversation on your dogs' (or more likely, yours!) favourite pastime.... I feel you are in disguise however.
I'm still a bit gobsmacked. Are there any chemicals in that cane factory smoke.....?

Back to school tomorrow - perhaps I'm cracking under the pressure - you may notice me trying different things - I'm not really straying from my roots, just experimenting. Here, I was going for 'Pretty' or maybe 'PRETTY' - couldn't see any suitable contest coming up so just posted it anyway...

Normal transmission will be resumed sometime.

Wal it's pretty sum'pin', thass for shewer.
Whatever - you've succeeded. I've forgotten if you're an English teacher or not. If so, I would seriously suggest that your talents are wasted where you are; you probably should be lecturing in a university ... although maybe not - if you can influence kids at a young age, they'll go on to be better English graduates the other end.

I enjoyed this playful look at fairies riding on bumblebees and pixies dancing and shimmering. Good rhyme and meter lend to a smooth flow and a fun read.
