'a life that was of my own choice' is an extremely well-written piece. This talented poet has what so many of us are looking for. Contentment. It was a pleasure to read and review a work of this caliber.

The picture matches well with the poem. It seems a happy pilgrim that seems to be living comfortably. But does being your own best friend bring you peace or loneliness. If you can be you own best friend when others aren't available that is fine but one always needs other friends.

Keep writing and good luck

Sometimes it is impossible to leave others behind when fulfilling ones dreams, but on our individual quest for the truth (Within ourselves) we must follow our own path.

A very cleverly written poem which meets the writing prompt completely. So many experiences and feelings are needed to live a fulfilled life, and you have captured this so very well. The poem has excellent rhythm and meter which makes it flow so well. MaryLinda

I give you six stars for this because to me it is perfect. I've had many conversations with my fiancee about this very subject and we have different ideas about what it takes to feel complete and satisfied in our old age, individually, as well as together. I truly love what you've said, it's similar to how I feel one should be able to look back at their life in their elder years. I hope I do. Thank you.

To many if not for all, life is really a matter of choice, and it is a fullfilling accomplishment whatever it may be the outcome when you fully understand and accept what have you become at the end. It is safisfying and gratifying that you have come at last at the age where you able to see the path where you come from. A thoughtful poem.

beautiful poem that speaks of having lived life with intensity and passion "You did it your way". Better to regret what we did that what we don't.
I enjoyed reading this poem.
Congratulations!

Hi the author,

Good poem and a very good message within it. Far too many of us don't take the opportunities offered and end up mumbling about shoulda, woulda or coulda in old age...

Interesting work. Some pieces I have to read again and this one I read three times allowing it sink in.

The first time I was confused so I figured I had read it wrong. The second and third times I became more than just interested to know the life behind work.
