Very funny! I loved it.
"CAT scan, LAB report."
Didn't see it coming.
Great rhyming and cadence
suitable to this "silliness"
Really enjoyed it.

Thank you - not really an original joke, but one I felt was worth 'poemising'

All very well told in very catchy rhyme and meter, at least, up to the last couplet. I know there is most likely a language pronunciation difference, but "bought" and "Report" just do not rhyme in the U.S., and having been at least as close to Kiwi Land as sydney several times, I fail to understand how it rhymes in your neighborhood either. Nevertheless, what does work for me is marvelous. Yes, I get the cat scan and lab report puns, but it took a couple of minutes.

OK, I have to ask you about this rhyme thing - actually you are only the second person (out of about 30) to mention it. Actually to my ear bought and report are almost perfect rhyme. Perhaps the 'r' sound in report makes it a tad longer, but the vowel sound is identical. I would happily rhyme taut, caught, short, abort, fought, sought, sort..... My current dictionary doesn't offer help with pronunciation, but I will take a look online and see if I can spot what you funny Americans have done to our language in this instance. If your phonetic transcription skills are up to it, perhaps you could indicate how you would say each word...

BOUGHT/REPORT. With written words we can only transmit meaning, not the actual pronunciations. Your dictionary would probably give the same pronunciation symbols as mine, but we would most likely pronounce the symbols differently, too. I think it is only the last syllable of REPORT i.e., PORT with which I have the problem. It has the letter "r" and BOUGHT does not. The irreconcilable difference is between OT and ORT.

Even though I guessed this was coming I still loved it! it reads brilliantly aloud - have just performed it to husband Terry who loved it too. Poor Bob, still he could cook it and have crispy duck and pancakes. I loved the CAT scan and the Lab report. xxxmouse

Thanks. Not an original joke but cute all the same. Somebody tells me the final rhyme bought/report doesn't rhyme. How does it sound to you?

    Thank you!
I have had many shocks at vet bills, but none for a dead duck!

LOL! I absolutely love this!! What imagination and humor! Wish my brain could think of this stuff. I especially liked " The dog soon saw he'd have no luck, at rousing the departed duck. He gave his golden head a shake, Confirming there was no mistake" and of course the ending was brilliant! Well done!

Thank you - to tell the truth I didn't think of this either - I just took somebody else's joke and 'poemised' it. Glad you enjoyed.

kwisteveh, I love it. You took a very funny story (that I have in my stack of keepers) and made a masterful poem out of it. Very, very clever. In fact, gonna give you one of my rare sixers and bookcase it. pat

Yes, I wondered who would recognize the story. This is the second one I've tried where I've taken an existing joke (got to be one I like!) and poemised it. Good way of remembering the joke too!
Thank you so much for the Six - I appreciate it.

Thanks, Barbara - maybe I'll leave the prose to you experts now and just stick to my funny little poems!
