Very nice what a wonderful story I loved reading the ending though was fabulous made me happy to be an American again... Loved this ending "Maybe it's just me, but for me to be sitting at my desk, writing this essay, in the greatest nation in the world, is a miracle.
As an open prayer, I would like to say, Thank you God for this earth you have given us. Thank you for miracles great and small. Thank you for the love and compassion that is there for us to give and take, and thank you God, for the United States of America."

I love the examples you give of the bird, the tree, the laughing baby, a smile...of life's everyday miracles, and how you discuss those miracles in the framework of the sermon that was being given about how people don't think miracles occur much nowadays.

I wonder how normal it is that I happen to glance at the clock and catch it at 11:11, or at 4:44, etc. And I'm not a clock watcher. LOL! I take all these things as signs that I am part of something much more infinite than myself. So yeah, I believe in miracles. We live in a conscious universe.
Your gratitude for living in America is totally understandable and admirable. It took brave men to take a stand and lay their lives on the line. It was a brave start for a great country. There's no denying that kind of courage. You've a right to be proud.

You could tighten it up a bit, though. You used the word "sermon" four or five times in the first paragraph of the 'sermon'.
