I love the interaction between Troy and his dad, something Michael will never have from his. Too many males think beating on a female is a right of manhood, because they control so little in their own lives. I'm glad you are showing the ying and the yang.

You set up a very interesting question with this--did Ellen Collier have anything to do with Anna's disappearance? I'm really looking forward to finding out the answer. I'm glad that Troy and his dad are still involved, too. That leads me to another question--are Troy and Anna going to fall in love? Again I can't wait to find out.

Just to reiterate, Anna doesn't need to get a restraining order. His release orders would have taken care of that. also, he would have been ordered not to return to his home. That's what they do in domestic violence cases like this. If he needed to go home to get his belongings, a police officer would have to accompany him.

Bobby's attempting to hit Anna would constitute another charge of domestic violence, along with violating his release orders. Attempting to cause, or causing, bodily harm. I can see Bobby disobeying his release orders--he's the kind of guy who would do that--but someone at the hospital should know to callk the police on him.

There are no orders for custody in place yet, so there is no reason why she can't leave the state. What she can't do is file for divorce in another state for six months; no other state has jurisdiction over custody for at least that long. Every state also has residency periods that a person has to live in that state before she can file for divorce. She can hide within the state of Texas if she files for divorce immediately, asks for emergency custody and explains the domestic violence and requests orders that Bobby is to stay away (have no visitation rights) or supervised visitation only. Any judge would order that under the circumstances. Of course, until Anna talks to a lawyer, she won't know any of this.

Troy shoved his hands into his pant[s] pocket

OHH, I hope the volunteer has stashed Anna and Michael somewhere they can be safe. Bobby needs a strong dose of his own medicine!
I'm sure other reviewers have mentioned that this is a flawless post.
Enjoy your son!!!!

The Sit-a-Spell Bookstore
Love the name of the store. Cute.

Think I could get a pastry to go with this coffee?"

An interesting continuing story. Glad to see she's evaded him for the present, though unlikely it'll last, I suppose. Looking forward to more.

Thank you for the review. I am not sure why I received four stars. I don't know what to correct to get five stars.

I guess I'm kind of a harsh reviewer. It has to be something that really speaks to me or stirs my mind or emotions really well for me hand out five stars. No need to take offense; you did nothing wrong. You don't need to change anything. Reviews are simply other people's opinions about the work, not a true judgement in it's own right, if you know what I mean. If they let you do halves, I'd have added a half star to yours. Hope this eases the sting a little. Oh, and I never get more than four stars for my work, either. People just reserve that for the most spectacular of writings, which even the best writers in the world would be hard pressed to get. Try not to feel bad. You do great work! That is its own reward if you let it be. I have some pieces out there that I think are pretty good yet I get NO responses to or votes for at all. And on this site, you have to pay with money or reviews to promote your stuff, which isn't the fairest of ways to judge works. So keep all this in mind, and don't be hard on yourself. Keep writing and improving, it's all any of us can do!
