This is a beautifully written story in a poem. It makes me think of my Grandpa who in his 90's decided he wasn't going to go to the hospital again although he knew he was dying. I helped take care of him the last few days. He died in his own home, own bedroom and own bed with grace and dignity. Should we all be so fortunate. Yours is a very moving story!!! Good luck in the contest! Debbie

Thanks Debbie. Your Grandpa died just as I hope to and just about everyone else probably. In your house, in your bed and being taken care of by your family. Thanks again for a great review and God bless you and yours. Bill

Excellent piece, I think we would all like to die at our home, maybe it will happen in our life time with the costs of everything going up staying home to die might be the only option. I enjoyed reading your poem.

Thanks for your review and all those shiny stars. In the old days, not so long ago, nearly everyone died at home. These days it can be life threatening just being in a hospital, from infections, mis-diagnosis, wrong medications and the list goes on and on. Thanks again my friend and take care of yourself. Bill

I aam afraid i don't have much use for Doctors or hospitals. I have seen first hand how disease spreads.

Today seems to be the day of sad poems-in-stories. Yours was particularly true because it involved a beloved father. Your poem expresses the wishes of msot of us - to die in a place we love. Excellent imagery in this one. Best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Linda

Thank you so much Linda for your review. I guess sadness in our lives helps to make us stronger and also helps to prepare us for the end of life. God bless you and good luck in the contest. Bill

A fabulous poem that you have delivered with real elegance and soul.
I like the rhyme scheme very much and felt that the cadence was totally in sync with the theme.
Nicely done.

Nothing better than a slice of life shared with feeling and meaningful words. Wish you the best. It's obvious that your dad was truly "salt of the earth." Great job!...John

Your poem flows and rhymes really well. I find it so sad that so many die in that dreaded hospital room or nursing home away from loved ones. All the best in the contest - it kept my attention. jenniex

This is a wonderful story. I enjoyed reading this tale and so many of us want to pass away at home or the place we love the most. You capture a human feeling and spirit with your words.

This poem is a wonderful tribute. It is touching to read, and you the story is very well written with feelings that expresses your love, and what your father also felt about his home. The imagery is nice as I can see the man taking his final look at his beloved home, before dying. The rhymes are great and the poem is beautiful. All the best. Michelle

Now then Bill ... I can relate strongly to this one as I, too, was born on a farm. Beautifully told and well illustrated, I could see the fields and feel the old fellow's struggle to walk. Pat.
