Hi Victortouche

You're right, out in the country away from the city and the hustle and bustle the railway reserve always seems to draw one into the great outdoor sound of wind in grass, insects, the scent of the hot earth ...

Good flow and imagery.

Patrick

Ok i just got this going clickety-clack like a railroad track, and you went and pulled the rhyme out from under me!
Repetition and simple language makes this almost like a kids' chanting game for skipping to.

That was really fun to read. I kept thinking this could be made into a song. I loved the steady rhythm of and how I couldn't wait to read the next line.

This is well executed. You expressed your feelings about the railroad very well. I enjoyed the smooth flow and interractive mode of the poem. kudos

Hi Victortouche...Yep...here again.
I loved this read. I know it is peaceful in tenor, but it does make me think of Grapes of Wrath, and my forebears who built the railroads. Those Irish Immigrants!

The bulk of the workmen working their way from the EAST towards the West were Irishmen. The bulk of the workmen building the railroad from the WEST towards the EAST were the Chinese.

Interesting...huh?

However, in country places where rails are overgrown with grass I have felt something of what you write so well. Excellent!
Fondly, Rebecca

Thank you Rebecca. Any comparison with "Grapes" is just pulling this ole boy up by his bootstraps and out of the gutter! lol

You most likely don't know that my son is a train buff and sits on two rail boards--I will send him your song, whispering on the wind, post haste! It is a terrific "snapshot" and thank you for the personal context in your notes. I reveled in your personification of the "railroad" and your symbolic "trees." Bravo! -Joan

Thank you Joan. No, I didn't know your son is so positioned. How wonderful it is to not only hear praise of one's work, but tidbits of personal history of the reviewer. It adds such warmth to the community.

J'aime la langue francaise. Je l'ai e'tudie', mais s'est retrouve' avec une femme allemande. Donc, je parle un peu l'allemand et beaucoup d'anglais. Encore...peut-etre qu'il est temps.

Excellent work. You carry the reader precisely as you seem to intend. The poem certainly does carry me, reminding me of journeys past and those yet to be. Nicely done.

I've never walked the tracks of a railroad, but reading your poem I could honestly say that I was able to feel the tracks under me feet, the scent of the steel and lumber, the gravel shuffling as I walk upon it. It whispered stories of transportation, towns growth, men women. I simply had many thoughts going through my head. Thank you for this great visual...

Yes, the gravel does spray around as you walk whether accidently or so often as kicked by you.

Breathtaking Art image of a railroad track. It looked so real, it looked almost 3D. Loved the poem and how it talked directly to the railroad instead of telling the story from the writers' point of view.
