I've always liked how in a short writing we can take something and highlight known phrases like this prayer. It makes the reader stop and take notice of the message you want to convey. A touching tribute to her, and reminds me of the scripture that says, "the foolish will become wise..."

I was raised a catholic, and my father's side of the family were polish immigrants with a large family. Stan (stoshue)

You are a much more generous woman than I for I am still angry that my best friend died without telling me she was ill. Granted it was from all the years she "partied" but, I don't know how to get over it ... still talk to her about it...you're piece as many of yours do touched a chord in me. Thank you. xoxo deborah

Well there are stages of grief and your rage is perfectly natural. What might hurt the most is not her dying but her not wanting to tell you.

Its probably because she didn't want to admit, even to you, that she brought this on herself.

Hi SC. I was impressed by the way you expressed the thoughts about the Lord's prayer-very much so. I might mention a couple of spags: God (good) Friday. Is 'puking' to the priest what you meant to say(if so I don't get what you mean). The box between 'I' and 'always') The last two may just be my misunderstanding. Otherwise I thought this well written and I think agree, many people don't really think about what the Lord's Prayer really proposes. A nice job, my friend. xxxSusan

Dear Ingrid...as I read this, I thought, in my subconscience, that I could have written just these same exact feelings down. Worded differently of course, but your views are mirrors of mine. I lost my best friend, Ella Marie Pfeifer, after she bravely traveled the world, all by herself, and after she found love in Australia, only to be killed by a speeding car. Her 13 year old daughter and she were smashed when another car landed square on top of them as they sat at a redlight. This, along with my own life's trials, has really made me a mess. I love this essay, and found not a spag. I would maybe move the paragraphs close together for easier reading. But, you and I are twins in how we think sometimes. Thank you for this wonderful read my friend. Susan

    I think you're right.

Once a long time ago I went to a psychic for entertainment. Never quite sure hoq I feel about all the paranormal.

She did a past life reading and gave me three lifetimes as examples. The third one was that I was once a Priestess in a temple surrounded by other like minded women. I was suppossedly as close to God as I have ever been and as a reqrds He allowed me to travel through eternity with my spiritual sisters. Hence you now know where I got the moniker. So do you think we were in Egypt or Indonesia in that life?

I wonder...I am trying to write a poem about the area. Note, I said "trying"...whoa. ") I am told my son and I are "idigo" children? Odd stuff. But so interesting..?

I thought this was an absolutely wonderful lamentation/rumination on a friend, a prayer, and many of life's deepest questions. I liked how you chose the Lord's Prayer as your point of reference. The questions you posed are shared by many. You just happened to share them all better than most. Good luck in all you do.

Boy, could I comment on each and every part of this prayer and your interpretations. You've presented a well written and logical analysis to one of the great mysteries that exists in human kind ... understanding God through the Bible. I enjoyed the post very much.

This is a very well written essay. It is well presented and flows smoothly. I am sure many on here will identify with the content as there seems to be a lot of posts about faith and religion.
