I love it and as the pup is brought back and the kitties disappear into the recesses of the house...that was the whole picture right there. This is an great piece and not a problem noted

Hi Barb; thank you so much for reading and reviewing. This was one of my favorite chapters to write - I was so impressed with the game Simba made up! I'm glad you enjoyed it,

Patty,
What a great story that was fun to read, too. Your use of descriptive words/phrases allowed me to see the kitties & the little dog enjoying their play. You are right. Kitties & puppies can 'get along' in the right setting. Of course they all know they are safe & have a great master who will look after them.

My kitty has very long fur, big feet with long fur between the pads on her feet. She has to work extra hard to groom.

I enjoyed every word of your story. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Hi Jan; thank you for such a glowing review. Someone told me yesterday to 'stop writing about animals and move on.' I wonder what James Herriot or Albert Payson Terhune would have done. They probably would have kept writing and selling their books.

Thank you for reading, and I so appreciate your time,

So enjoyable. Of course, I have multiple pets myself, so I can identify with the personification and thoughts running through the pets minds throughout your story. I particularly like the first two paragraphs. Simba has/had enormously big feet. I loved how you described tongue at roof of mouth to get rid of the fur of cleaning himself. Great job. Marilyn

We have had many cats and dogs over the years, and have had these, or similar experiences Happen in our household, all bar one, Muffy, a female cat, (who was the bottom of heap until the others passed on, now she rules kingdom of three, Elaine, myself and her, good things come to those that wait! Heh heh.), we've had the pillow thing, they've all fit into their respective places in the "pecking order", they understand better than we two-legged creatures. Enjoyed this immensely Marla, bless you, Roy

LOL on your author's notes. I have experienced the same thing.
The story is engaging.

Leo lives with the (fairy tale notion) that her pillow will always be his spot. In Simba's mind, he wonders how much longer until the little dog claims the bed at night. Leo still (holds out for the notion) that the little beast is simply visiting. Simba knows better.

fairy tale notion/ holds out for the notion

Here I just wondered if you could change it up a little on one of those? Seeing the same word so close together kind of pulled me out of the story. It's something I struggle with all the time in my own writing!

Hope that helps.
Jan

This is another very well written chapter about Harley, Simba and Leo. They all seem to be really cute pets. You used very good descriptive wording and very good dialogue. I enjoyed reading and reviewing. Blessings, Teri

Hi Teri; thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. This was a fun rewrite. Did you hear about my selling the animal stories to a veterinarian newsletter and website? I'm so excited. So, I'm trying out chapters on you guys and getting them ready to submit - they want twenty by June 1st.

Okay, cat's play. Yada, yada, yada. Can we move o now? I like the stories, but enough already. I've gotta go watch my own cats for awhile.

LOL that Harley!!! Sounds like he is just one bundle of joy and the other two are sorry for that. LOL. He'll grow up fast and let them know about themselves, for sure. Cute tale of tails!!!

Simba and Leo are still hoping Harley is NOT here on a permanent basis. Simba walks around the house muttering kitty curses under his breath all the time. We did give them a safe room in our bedroom. Harley is not allowed in our bedroom at all. Simba LOVES to taunt him from his side of the gate! ~patty~
