A great little poem written from the mind of a two year. You need to still have a little of that joy still left in your soul to be able to write this. Kudos... love and happy kiddie thoughts, Jackles xxxxxxxxxx

Such a charming account of your granddaughter's birthday. You tell the story well and include all the charm of a young lady of two. Nicely rhymed and with a good, strong beat. I like the reference to the terrible twos which, I'm sure, you'll never experience.

You formula for writing a poem work well in meter, rhyme and rhythm. I hope this will not be the terrible twos. I see you both have good communication skills and it might be best to share all your poetics thought your lives as a family tradition, if you are not doing this already. My Uncle wrote and book for me, but asked for it back to see if it would get published.

I'm going to give her a copy in scrapbook form with her own pictures in it and I will have a copy on my computer so I will not have to ask for it back -- thanks for sharing your story -- love, jan

Sound like a wonderful day Jan! I know how much joy Lexi is bringing you and love that you are capturing all in a Dear Lexi book (what a treasure for her for later on...). As you know, we love our granddaughter Katie as well, so I can so relate to the love that pours out in these poems. A question: should the comma after Yay be inside the end quotation mark? Also, what about centering this particular piece? Best of luck in the contest with a wonderful story within a poem. Hugs, Sue

heck if I know, Sue -- it's one of those things I usually get wrong -- centering -- sure, why not? love, jan
