I love this extended metaphor, Kay - your poetry just keeps getting better and better
Great internal rhyming and end-line rhyming and flow
Wonderful visuals and sensory appeal
strong use of alliteration and repetition that enhances the flow
This is totally deserving of a six, but I have no six. Just know how very much I admire this and enjoyed reading it :-) Brooke

Bless you my learned friend; glad you liked the comparison between dog and sea. Just glad dog doesn't eat PAL dogfood, might end up with a cyclone! LOL, Kay.

Hullo Kay ....

I think this is a truly beautiful piece of free-thought writing which I really enjoyed reading. Your descriptions are so vivid and I am wondering if you did the lovely painting at the top. For these reasons, I have no hesitation in awarding you the 6th star.
Of course, there is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
Love from .... Nanette Mary.

A different take on the sea and one that is sure to resonate with those who know the characteristic of dogs. My prayers are with the people who are not facing the raging river -- perhaps a rabid dog?

Jean, Thank you for reviewing; glad you liked the poem. The floods are receding here in Queensland; moved down to Melbourne. Cheers, Kay.

I loved this and how you used the dog to represent the sea. It fit so well. All the moods and actions parallel one another. Loved it with the dog (sea) was quiet with his head in his paws. This was just excellent. Blessings.

Very interesting comparing the ocean & a dog. I liked it all along but thought the rhythm might have been off in the last stanza a bit (i'm certainly not knowledgeable enough to be critiquing lol just what i was thinking while reading). I really liked imagery and liked the tides, moods references.

Hi, Kay. I love the comparison of the dog and the sea, and the roaring and snoring. Excellent poem which creates a visual impact on the reader. Not only visual, but I could hear the waves, the rumbles. Thanks for sharing, my friend, and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

Nice artwork you pick the right artwork for your poem's love the idea of picking a dog for the sea.
You told it like it is my belated husband was a surf fisherman and he would tell how the sea moods change at a certain time that when certain fish were biting.

Yes, indeed the moods of the sea changes constantly; done a lot of fishing in my younger days. Glad you liked the poem. Thanks for reading. Old fishermen don't die, they just smell that way! LOL, Kay.
