This is a remarkable work. My father-in-law was a Marine who lost both legs to a mine. When they carried him of the plane in San Francisco, protesters threw rotten tomatoes at him. He is in poor health as well now.
Good luck and all the best to you and your Marine.
Tell him "Thank You."

Oh, I will do that. I will pray for your father-in-law as well. Perhaps these two Marines served together. Your kind words lift me up. -Judy

This is a beautiful poem written for the soldiers who served in Vietnam. It is a strange phenomenum that those soldiers were not made welcome home. It happened everywhere.

This poem hit me really hard. I was born in 1959 and I remember the war. My friends had older brothers that served and were 'welcomed' home with protesters. I will never forget this time in my life. This poem is beautiful. The rhyme and meter are both beautiful. I wish time could go back and the children of that era could say 'thank you and we do welcome you home brother'. Best of luck to you and your husband in the days to come, Shirley

Judy,
How well you wrote the words to what was the most shameful treatment of our men in Service who served in Viet Nam.
I could not believe the attitudes and actions of the people as our men returned from tours of duty in Nam. That has to be the low point in American history. He certainly has my thanks and that from all of the men who have served in the Military. Now, he has my prayers for his worst battle.
Fondly, Lyle

This is a lovely poem and more than that, a lovely tribute to 'your marine'. Great story told in evocative phraseology. I wish you both all the best. You and your family will be in my prayers. Blessings - Marcia

Hi Judy,
This is a nice poem honoring all war vets and especially your dear husband who is presently battling with cancer. I'm so sorry for this difficult time in your family's life. I lift you up in prayer. I've read Katie's poem/song for him also. Great and touching tribute. A great big welcome is surely waiting for him in heaven.
Love and hugs,
Anabella

This is a touching poem. And so sad.It has a good flow. And rhythm and rhyme to it.It's very sad what those men and women came home to.I always send money to the Veterans. But don't think it's ever enough. My heart goes out to you .And I will pray for your soldier.God bless all of you.
