Victor, this one got my skin crawling. When I was a young girl I listened to my relatives and some of my teachers telling how they escaped this nightmare, as my eyes focused on the numbers engraved on their arms. Your choice of the word bludgeon is perfect yet horrific. It sure does put things into perspective. Night is an excellent book, and I'm glad you included it in your author notes. I saw in one of your reviews someone mentioned the thousands of Jews that died, so I would like to correct that. The number is six million. Thanks for writing this, Victor. It shows what a compassionate person you are.

Thank you. When one remembers or contemplates such incomprehensible atrocities, it shakes one to his soul. As well it should. What worries me the most is the people that were involved in this were all acrooss the spectrum of humanity. Even doctors such as myself. I always think of the Einsatzgruppen and how they were led by doctors often. If education wasn't enough or intelligence or culture, it means it might happen again. And that must never happen.

Great dramatic effect through your text layout and use of the word Bludgeon. The repetition also works to create a sense of the repetition of the pain and suffering. Very dramatic.

This is very good, shows great emotion and has a good flow to it. This is a good topic to, not many people would try to take on this sort of thing

How scary. I was researching the topic of concentration camps a week ago for a work, and it is still haunting me. "Blugeon" is a collective word for all the horror in Nazi concentration camps.

This was strong:

Come Bludgeon.
Day is ending as
sun's red mist
to darkness turns.

Excellent work, and thank you so much for sharing.

Hugs and love, Y.

This is a thought-provoking poem. We can't even begin to imagine what those poor people went through. It's a wonder there were any survivors at all.

What a powerful piece of poetry. I have also read Elie Wiesel and many othr books on the Holocoust. Having lost so many persons to such madness is enough to make you question the sanity of the human race. Thanks for sharing this piece. I have visited Auschwitz and will tell you that it is so sanitized that it is maddening.

Although I lived through WWII as an evacuee, information about what was going on well out my sight has continually bothered me. Subsequent documentaries, revelations hitherto hidden and images given life through art, music, writing have surrounded me with the enormity of man's cruelty. Even the word 'bludgeon' sends shivers through me. Your poem is so powerful, you have my admiration for writing it.

The simplicity of this poem makes it all the more powerful and gut-wrenching. You do a fine job conveying the horror here.

A moving poem more so if you know the history which should never be forgotton. There has always been ethnic cleansing but that is not the way it was intended to be. Dave.
