My original feedback got canned for being too short (Do you SEE the irony? :) So I'm rewriting this post. As I was saying, I am new to flash fiction. The ending gave me chills. As a cop for the better part of a decade, I can relate to the way humans mistreat their own.

Very nicely written.

Hi there! Thank YOU! And I am really glad you found this interesting. Just part of how the world is, in reality. SO many go missing, and never found. It's just sad. I am honored to have you review this for me! Susan

Wow...
Dark and incredibly enjoyable.
You have a lot of skill.
This would be perfect for one of the flash fiction contests.
In few words, just like some poetry, your prose has left a lot to think about.
Sad and dark, but beautifully written.
Well done! And thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Must admit it did have me wondering what, who was out there. The ending caught me by suprise. your poem brings in the insects devouring flesh, your flesh. As you say there must me many unsolved crimes. Dave.

I greatly enjoyed reading this exceptionally well-crafted story. It flows silky-smooth; with superb imagery very well-woven into the fabric of the narrative, throughout. The reader's imagination and heart try to push away the image and the all-too-real possibilities --- but resistance is futile. Great work! Andy

Susan,
your flash fiction is spine tingling and extremely well written. . In a minimum amount of words for a maximum effect you established a setting, conflict, and a resolution to your story. Your art work is perfect for the scare theme. I've been watching Discover ID and it's shocking how many folks are murdered by someone they know and are dumped in the woods. I had a friend who went missing and they never found Pam to this day and she disappeared in July of 1984. I went to school with her. We think a serial killer murdered her.

OH my God...see?? I worry about these things...I watch those same shows Melissa. I had a man in an old pickup truck follow me around when I was in art school, in '84. I was in Columbus Indiana. He would follow me to lunch and tried to grab me as I jogged thru an old covered bridge in a park. I darted down under the bridge and jumped across the dry creekbed to get away...I am so sorry about your friend. How sad and frightening. Were there any other people gone around at that time? Of course, those killers move around I suppose. Who knows. But, thanks for another great reveiw...BTW! HOW did I get your cold clear thru this internet????????? LOL! ") I am miserable now too. ! I have never wondered about bodies left in the woods never to be found, but my husband, a retired forensic science experert for the Army, does wonder about that. I would hope somebody would list the person as missing and they would search for that person.

Oh I watch too much Nancy Grace...there are murders so often and so many movies and on the news that I am just jaded. Seems like the gorier it is, the more famous the killer becomes. I feel just plain sad when I see or hear of people killing babies, their grandparents, a friend. It's just not necessary. Self defense, yes...but it's usually over a boyfriend, money or something just wrong. God help us. Thank you for reading this too, I appreciate it a lot too!! Luv, Susan
