Nice poem but not my favorite. However, I think it was the structure more than the writing that I founf unappealing. I did like how the cat wished the dog had never been born. Very true to life. You could name the dog George Bailey.

Hi there; thank you so much for the review of this poem about Leo. I revived this in order to honor Leo's memory. He has been gone from my life for about five years now, but never gone from my heart. I think we all come across a piece of writing that just doesn't do it for us,

What an interresting form and one that still tells the story but in an entirely different way. The piece is perfectly done according to the notes and of course you had me with Leo...i love cats

Hi Teri; thank you for dropping by to read this little poem about a wonderful cat. He has been gone for almost five years, and I have so many wonderful memories of him.

Another interesting form, Patty. You certainly are open-minded about trying new forms. The poem almost sounds like sibling rivalry. I have a feeling "dog" might feel he could do without "Leo," too!

LOL!! Thank you so much for reading. Yes - I love trying new forms, and it keeps me challenged. The years I shared with Leo and Harley in the house were very interesting. Leo never did trust him.

Sooooo, Harley is a dog! I just reviewed your other Leo poem and guessed Harley was another cat!

Yes, 'animal business' portrayed in a lovely form. I like the 'diminished Hexaverse' to convey the message: which I relate to so much. Animals DO talk to us and to each other. You just have to be a lover of them and listen and watch them interact with each other and you. There is nothing like looking into your pet's eyes when he/she is loving or hating or feeling whatever about you. You have obviously experienced all this and captured it in your work. Thanks. I would share this poem with animal lover friends.

Ha-Ha. Leo is patient. Cats are so independence from what I've noticed. They go and come, out in the wild, as they please. They don't let others get close unless they trust you. Leo trusts you but I think he is selfish as well.

Leo was a good boy. He has been gone since 2012, and I miss his beautiful face. Thank you for reading and commenting,

Hello my friend

How many types of poetry do you know? Wow, I l never heard of a hexaverse. Your pets must be spoiled :) it sounds like you really care about them. Good job.

Hey Gypsy; I simply 'collect' them from other writers. When they post the requirements of a form in their author's notes, I cut and paste to this multi-page document I have called 'Poetry forms.' I then consult shadowpoetry.com to see if it is a known form - usually not, and then when I'm bored, I follow the directions.

I love the challenging ones best,

yes, my pets are spoiled - but currently, I only have Howie and Bernie to treat to whatever they want

This is a very interesting format. It works well to describe a waiting process as one gets more and more impatient the syllables decrease and anticipation increases and finalizes in monosyllabic lines. Fun!

This pleasant story-in-a-poem of Leo's patient wait for his turn works well as a diminished hexaverse. Yes, it is quite plausible that Leo resents the time given to the dog, but knows his own time will come. Nicely done, and aptly illustrated.
