In my opinion, a charming write, within an interesting poetry form, one I haven't seen before. It appears to adhere to the form, but regardless, I enjoyed the poem and its wonderful study of natural interplay...

Dear Mustang Patty,
Just wait my feline pet for the dog will soon be gone and then you can have your turn. (LOL) Only my fervent wish is that gull dang mutt would just up and disappear.
Warm regards,
Winslow

don't think I have ever read a ... diminished hexaverse poem before friend, looks and reads like an interesting and very challenging form. That's why we only have cats(two) in our home : ) Nice! Though I must confess to being a dog lover first and foremost...

Hi; thank you for stopping by to read and review my poem about Leo. This poetic form was fun to work with. I currently only have my two dogs, but the times I had both a dog and two cats was interesting!

To be really nit-picking, shouldn't your last stanza just have one one-syllable word?
I'm familiar with the kind of animal jealousy you describe here - we have two cats and three dogs. Pat one and you almost always have to pay attention to all of the others.
Interesting form and an excellent description of the situation.

Hi Steve; thanks for reading and reviewing. Yes, the last stanza should have had only one one syllable word. I wrote this about six years ago, so I can't tell you what I was thinking.
Having multiple pets is a tricky thing. I've had at least two pets in the house for the last twenty years. Howie and Bernie seem to do well with the whole thing, but I've seen other pets, like Leo, really get upset. (Leo would sulk for hours.)
Thanks for reading,
~patty~

Ah, a jealous cat! I never had the pleasure or displeasure to own a dog and a cat at the same time, but I grasped the pet rivalry of your poem:
She is with that dog
Like she is each morn
Tired of sharing
How Leo wishes dog
Had never been born
At last, like the movie All About Eve, Leo seizes an opportunity to have his time with the owner, or at least with her pillow.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Patty,
your poem made me smile. You do personalize pets so well both in your prose and poetry. It' a skill I don't have. Leo is still jealous of the dog in the house.
Happy Leo
His time -- excellent ending.

This poem is so beautiful to me, as it states a familiar emotion in new words. The flow is perfect...no unnecessary words or punctuation and has the thoughts of a cat.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and reread it a few times. Thank you!

I've not seen this style before, but your story about Leo, patiently (or not) waiting his turn works well and you set a scene that is easy to visualize. Well written Patty
Cute photo of Leo (I'm presuming)
cheers

Don't all cats know that they rule the house? Mine sure does at least. LOL a great poem and picture to go with it. So many don't do the art work to finish a story or poem.
