Thank you for sharing the details of your treatment. I'm simply amazed by how much you are able to do while you're undergoing all this. Merry Christmas to you and all the best in the New Year.

I am praying for you dear writer. I don't want to elaborate in the treatment you are following, just i want to say "You go girl." Stay there and be firm and strong. I am praying for you.

Thank you for taking the time to describe your saga and for sharing your appreciation for the support from FanStorians. The free verse poem you added is a very clear expression of your feelings as well. Yes, you were indeed lucky to get a room with a window--I don't think I've ever been that fortunate in a hospital! Yes, hats and scraves are wonderful accessories that I have always enjoyed and several friends continue to use after chemo. Yes, drinking plenty of water and eating several small meals a day is good for all of us. The only idea I have about the flushing is one of the neckerchiefs, with gel inside them, which are used by hikers and cool for a while since they are designed to be refrigerated. I am relieved to hear that phase two will be gentler and involve fewer drugs. Keep your sense of humor and terrific attitude and you will win this fight. May the holidays blanket you with cheer and the New Year be peaceful- Joan

Normally, I begin my reviews of your work with the word excellent. In this case, it was painful to read you were going through all this. Look at the brighter side of things: your will and determination will see you through this ordeal, the poet lying dormant has come out, and you are managing things somehow.
As for your heat flashes, I have a suggestion. When the cricket players from down under play matches in the hot and humid climate of my country, they wear special vests, which have several pockets filled with ice cubes. The ice keeps the body temp at manageable levels. They add a little weight but serve the purpose.
Above all, prayers and good wishes of your virtual friends should help you immensely.
I wish you the best of health always and for ever.
Wishing you and your family A MERRY CHRISTMAS.

This is a well written and well presented article. The treatment of cancer is a struggle with the cancer and a struggle with one's self. The author handles bothe well. The body of the article is a clinical statement of the treatment, very straightforward. The closing poem is a song of triumph of the human spirit.Do not sell youself short as a poet. I am so very glad that I read this article. In your coming days May God hold you gentle in his hands.

Barbara this all sounds
so grueling and having
to sit for that length of
time as got to be difficult.
Of course the prayers will
continue and you will become
cancer free. As with most treatments
and illness',please remember
to rest--we can wait for your
posts. Big hugs, Lora

This is a good message and I am glad that you explained the need for support from all friends. I think too many people feel awkward and don't know what to say. Thanks

I cannot express how brave I think you are Barbara. And how sweet. I had to laugh tho, at the vampires, because my husband survived a near fatal car crash and when he was in rehab, EVERY night, several times a night, someone would come and take blood! He said the very same thing you did! You and he would have much to talk about and compare! ") I did a lot of cleaning up after him, and reading and just sitting watching him sleep. It is hard on us too Barb, as we watch you suffer. I still need to get to a good doctor. Soon! I promise! Love, Susan

I will, honest, as soon as the holiday is over. I have several problems, now, pain in my left cheek and jaw. Dental probably. But my cheek is sinking in? How odd. I have used a cell phone for years, so, I don't know. I will let you know Barb, how it all goes. I hope you are having a nice holiday, as much as you can. ? Barb, did I send your Christmas card? Did I ask you for a mailing address? I can't remember. I have a card for you! xoxo. S.
