And Lexi won't really appreciate this story until she's on the receiving end someday. Have you noticed how much cuter the little ones' antics are now that you're not responsible for their behavior? Enjoyed it.

Mama used her full name. Children know when they hear their full name being called, they're in trouble now.
Well done with telling this one, Buck

Oh, the day they learn to say No - that is quite a milestone day for so many reasons. LOL What a great story, Jan - I can just imagine little Lexi's mom stunned into silence and disbelief - now she just has decades ahead of her to hear that word. LOL I love the way you love this little girl. :-) Brooke

I am with her now, Brooke -- my husband has just arrived and she has nestled in his lap on the floor and has him reading and reading "Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See" over and over to her -- she draws out the best in him -- love, jan

Once they learn that word there is no going back, lol. Lexi sounds adorable. And I think you are handling this beautifully, with the unconditional love. great story.

I've always tried to love her mom the same way even when we didn't see eye-to-eye; I can do no less for her child -- love, jan

This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very easy read. There a time when toddlers repeat your words back to you.

The first time my daughter said no I just could not believe my ears. She then try it again and was told off. After a while she learned that if she said "no" with a big cheeky smile follow by strecht open arms she could get away with it.

I love the way you write as if you are speaking in the present time. It's almost as if I am watching the whole scene as I read.

Alexis sounds adorable. I wonder where she heard the word, 'no?' Undoubtedly, she's going to be highly intelligent if she's already figured out how to use the word.

What a cute story. Uh-oh, now that she has learned this word and knows how to use it, her mom will likely hear it often. Thanks for sharing this.

What a sweet story, and how much this and your others will be treasured by the little one when she's older. I think you set this up nicely, first describing the nightly ritual and then the emergence of the new word. Very charming!
