Oh what a adorable little ode to your new puppy this is!
He is just to cute! He looks like his name could be "Lucky" because you were so lucky to find him and he looks happy go lucky. I enjoyed this. You could just make this a free verse poem and center it. Rhyme is not required with free verse. Enjoy your new pup!! I'm so happy for you. Blessings, Love Light Patty

Thank you for reading and the generous review. Seems that puppies bring joy to everyone's heart! Thanks for reading, and I will use your suggestion to call it FREE verse, and center it. ~patty~

Patty,

this is a very fun piece of poetry to read and easy to review. I felt like I could reach and pet this little guy. Looks like he found an excellent home. That pictures says it all.

I'm sitting here looking at the love of my life. No it's not a wife or girlfriend, but my little female terrier/longhaired Chihuahua.

Best of luck with him.......jim

Thanks for the BEAUTIFUL Six Stars. There will be more writing about him for years to come. In fact, my husband thinks I should name him, WRITER. ~patty~

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my little ode to the new pup in my life. My poems have been written without form or structure for some time, and I know I need to find true rhythm and construction to truly contribute poetry on the site. The writers here have been offering some wonderful advice, and I'm going to rework the poem, today. ~patty~

The taken and wakin' rhymes are a bit contrived. I don't really understand the break down in the rhyming scheme in the second stanza. Otherwise the rhymes work well.

And I wrote the above without reading your Author Notes, so you already know all of this.

Anyways, enjoy the pup! I have a cocker spaniel and have written a few poems about him too! Dogs are the best!

Everyone has great talents some are recognized others are never noticed; even the humble and beautiful animals on this earth have the greatest of talents; they are there for us to love and admire and to be thankful.
To be thankful for their innocence;.... The greatest of all talents. Your beautiful poem 'Puppy Love' covers our love and respect for all creatures great and small. Especially Puppies:)

Liked it. I'm a real dog lover. As a matter of fact, my book is about my dog and his pack, starting a town of canines.

He's very cute. In the picture he looks just like a cute little stuffed animal. I've named him Stuffy, so far. I'll keep thinking to myself.

If you haven't had a puppy in a while, get ready for a wild ride, but they are so worth it.

Thank you for reading and the generous review. Its been about 10 years 14 years since the last time I did puppy training, so it should be interesting. The names under careful consideration are 'Will' for William Shakespeare, or 'Writer" for obvious reasons. His homecoming will be quite a day - or week -- or months! LOL! Thanks again, ~patty~

Awww!! I want a new puppy after reading this! Ha ha :) I haven't owned a dog in years (just cats and ferrets) and this piece brought back all the reasons why you should have a dog. Loved it, can't wait to read more about the new addition to your family :D

Thank you for reading and the generous review. I am so excited to be getting a puppy - I've been 'dogless' for about 10 years, so this is a joyous time for my hubby and me. (Not to sure about the JOY for my cats, but they will be okay.) Thanks for reading. ~patty~

Overall your poem is very cute. I know how I feel about my puppy. Your metering needs some work. I struggled with the number of syllables you have in each line. My suggestion would be to clean this up or simply remove the rhyming scheme and go for full free form. I did read the authors notes but still feel one must honor the process. Overall not a bad job, just a few nitpicking things to take care of.

Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to give me your honest feedback. I'm going to try to put the poem into a quatrain framework, because one of the other writers said I'm pretty close, . . .so look for an edited edition within the next day or so. I appreciate your feedback and assistance. ~patty~
