Oh how I wish they could stay puppies, like children can stay babies, but not to be. So when I got my little puppy, I made sure she stayed small by buying a miniature, lol. I love your poem, and can tell how excited that you are to get him. I don't know if you've had one before, but they are a lot of work, as much as children, almost! I wish you a lot of happiness with this cutie. . .Sharon

You're right about the work involved with a puppy. They are like children and demand you attention, but give you much more in return with their love. You've created an excellent poem to celebrate you new arrival.

I like the poem and I think that it is cute that you wrote about your puppy. The only part of the poem that didn't seem to go smoothly with the rest of the poem is the little boy with the smirk. Good luck with writing and with your new puppy.

Oh, congratulations! I'm so happy for you and envious at the same time. I had a toy poodle when I was a kid and would love to have a dog now. I live alone and work all the time so it wouldn't be fair but maybe when I retire:)As for your style, no apology needed. When the heart's speaking, we need to just let it talk! Great job! P.S. If I had a puppy, I'd probably name him "Biscuit" cause they're so precious you just wanna "eat 'em up" Yours looks like a "Biscuit" :)Congratulations again!

Thank you for reading and the generous review. I'm tickled that it is making so many people as happy as I feel. "Biscuit" sounds like a great name for the little guy - the top contenders are "Writer," and "Wally - short for Wallowitz, a character on 'Big Bang Theory.' ~patty~

The excitment of owning a pet is always something to look forward to. It's like opening a christmas gift but not on christmas. Enjoy your little furry gift of joy and good luck with the little guy.

I simply love puppies, and I like puppy breath too. That's part of who they are. I enjoyed this light hearted poem. I can see why you are excited.

Hi,Patty. What a delightful poem. Is this our dog? No matter, our description could be any dog as they show love in so many ways don't they? I have two of my own. Good writing, if I had a six left it would be yours. Well done. Bob

Bob - thank you for reading and the generous review. (Isn't it hard to only have a certain amount of Sixes? - it always seem that there is something to reward it to, . .and darn - I'm out!) Dec 18th will be a BIG day!! Thanks again! ~patty~

Patty, you sound so happy about your new bundle of joy with a tail. They are so much fun and love unconditionally, it's hard not to get excited, lol.

My daughter bought a Maltese from a kennel in Kansas 2 yrs ago and that little dog has us all hooked. Of course, I'm the biggest sucker for the litttle thing. She just makes me laugh. - Thesis

Congratulations on your new puppy! I'm sure both of you will have a ball together. Those little ones are so adorable, as you've so well articulated in your poem.

great
clearly shows your excitement for your new puppy. I love dogs!!!!!!!!! so I can understand you.
Just curious- I've seen in a lot of author's notes that people are using poetic license- what is that?
thanks
great job

Poetic license is when you force the rhyme - as when I made the word "awaken" into 'waken to fit the poem. Thanks for reading and the great review - I'm glad you enjoyed my celebratory poem!
