Thank you for the author notes, to describe both the structure and setting of your cinquain poem. Excellent use of alliteration and rhyme: lives/laid; raise/praise, and the repeated "s" sounds. Respecting and praising those who sacrifice their lives in war for their countries is an excellent topic. Too often we don't think or do much about it, but we should "sing your odes." - JeJo

There is a sorrow to the words in this Cinquain. Too many heroes are turned to corpses. Too many fall beneath the crush of war. I liked the picture you chose - A monument to the sorrows and decay that remains hundreds of years after the glory of battle is over. Rose.

A beautiful poem and wonderful author notes.I like that the title is considered the sixth line. Also enjoyed the background information on the Sligo Castle. Nice job, as always.

Brooke,
Your cinquain speaks loudly of the cruel fact that wars have always been a part of mankind's existence. Have so-called peace talks ever done any good?

Hello, Brooke. I am so pleased to find you have not abandoned your military project. This is very true and tells such a lot in so few words. Pat. xx

You have illustrated the essence of heroism and the obligation we all share to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of those who have changed our world for the better. spiceydog

Don't know how I missed this one, Brooke...and I am glad I caught up with it as it is a wonderful way to utilize this lovely little form. The internal rhyming is an asset here and the litany of apt topics for odes in parallel construction is a nice touch.
Good poem.

Dear Brooke,
The words you have chosen evoke the Normans. It is true that old ruins have many tales to tell and you have said it well. Excellent job of matching words with theme.
Warm regards,
Winslow

Brooke, your cinquain is indeed a moving and memorable poem. You honor the sacrifices made by soldiers throughout history and long for their valor to live on in words.
Excellent.
