This is a beautiful message. I can totally relate to it, too. I feel the same way.
This leaves me wondering how you arrived at this conclusion, but since the question was why do you write poetry and not how did you come to want to write poetry, I feel it is sufficient for this story. I what the answer to your second question would be though. You should email me if you ever write that one.

You are entirely welcome. I also wanted to let you know that I got your other messages. If you want to email me sometime, my email is vness8@msn.com. I love to talk about writing and poetry. I work a lot, though, so don't get discouraged if I don't answer right away. I don't get as much time online as I would like.

I I gave you five stars because I thought you said that real well really and poetry comes from the heart not what you write or how you write it nor does it have to rhyme just as long as your point is across and your words touch another's heart. Great work hope you win the contest.

Hi the author,
A very good exposition of the joy of writing something well. I liked the use of the cadence, structure and imagery from Psalm 23, the rod, staff, living water and even the shepherd comes across very well.

I like this piece of writing because its honest, or your honest . You admit to having weaknesses and a dented spirit. Writing is your comfort and you feel closer to God. Your last line is amazing,'already dwelling in the house of the Lord'.I want and need to experience him. I yearn for his presence, but there is a wall in me that refuses to be knocked down. And thank you for making me read Psalm 23.

And weren't the Psalms themselves poetry? From great warrior kings to bustling housewives, it seems like poetry is the common demominator for deep, emotional release.
Thank you for sharing this journey through yours.

Exactly dear animatqua. The Psalm are poetry themselves. Maybe that's why i like them so much.

This is so beautifully written, certainly by a poet's pen... And oh...the words and thoughts come deep from the poet's heart. I just love this! Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece on why you write poetry. The 23rd Psalm is really a big favorite as it is so inspirational. Well done. Best to you in the contest!

Absolutely brilliant! I've always struggled to find a way to describe how writing poetry makes me feel and here you have described it perfectly! It's impossible to pick out a particular line or phrase as they were all so well written. You expressed this very well and I thank you.Bravo!

Wow...
The piece is immensely mind wrenching...So fresh and thought provoking...
"Like a sacred balm, the fluid mystery of His waters spread peace over my soul, my skin, my sins. "
Beautiful!
"And in the process, I feel I am already dwelling in the house of the Lord. "
Wow again...
Thanks for sharing...
Well done!
Keep it up!
Love and Regards,
Sid
