Use of words in this one is entertaining and holds impact. Liked the thought that went into this poetic expression and the kaboom at the end. Well done. Good luck in the contest. xoxo Kiwi

Hi Marijke! I'm reading all of these wonderful acrostics before voting. Tried to enter myself but the contest was already closed. You're right...no different here. All a bunch of squawking monkeys. Well done, my friend. Best of luck in the contest. Sue

Hi Sue, thank you, my friend. I'll be happy when this election is over. Voting on Saturday. For the first time in my life, still don't know who I am voting for! (Compulsory to vote here).
Oh, well... I'll work it out.
    Cheers, my friend., Marijke

Hi Marijke,

I have to say that so far you are the only person who made me laugh when I read this. I know you're being serious, but you did a very funny acrostic and described imcompetence beautifully.

You certainly were inspired by the politicians over there in Australia. I guess we all have to face the blabber everytime another election rolls around.

NIce Job....and love the monkeys! LOL
Good Luck in the Contest :o)

Hey fiona, nice acrostic my friend and it read superbly down the screen for me. Your commas seem to be in appropriate spots and the only word I have trouble with was "everything"...it sounds like it should read "never considering ANYTHING". I understand you are boxed in with the letters you have but that was the only part that didn't sound gramatically correct. I think this is an excellent entry and chance but the last word puts me off a little. Sorry to be honest but I don't expect to win or people will think its rigged so I want the very best entries fighting it out. This really is a superb write and me being an Aussie also know exactly what you mean by this so has very personal meaning to me too.
Cheers and good luck with this entry. Just think about that end word would you? Not sure if anyone else mentioned it, but with a $10 entry fee its every man for himself I guess!!!
Take care and I look forward to seeing you in the winning circle with any luck.
Cheers closet xoxoxoxoxox

Thank you so much for your review and your comments, I truly appreciate them. I have re-read my acrostic, and do believe the word 'everything' is appropriate. 'Anything', in the context of the poem 'never considering anything' implies nothing is considered. Yet the word 'everything' means they only consider those 'things' which is important to them to win votes/debates, but not mentioning 'eveything' as in both sides of an argument/debate.
But thank you for your feedback, as it is important to me, and made me think my words through.
    Warmest regards, my friend, Marijke

I totally get what you are saying Marijke but when I read it the "everything" spoils the read a tiny bit for me. But I had to be honest. I think your explanation is excellent and I would stick to your guns girl. Well done and of course we will never please everyone!! I hope you do well in the contest, I hear there is a massive prize pool!! Heh heh wouldn't that be handy?
Cheers closet and good luck with this fine, UNCHANGED entry!!! LOL

PS. One point...I thought of this along the lines of "he hasn't got nothing!" well that means he must have something. I found the "never" cancelled out the "every" the same way. Just explaining how I arrived at my conclusion.... xoxoxo

Yes, I see where you got that from. But 'anything' doesn't start with 'e', so even if I wanted to change it, it wouldn't work, my friend. Thanks for good luck wishes. I won't hold my breath, there's some pretty good stuff there! Cheers, have a great weekend. Marijke

Yep, I know and I ain't holding mine either. As the organiser I don't think I can expect to win, but I sure need that $180 kitty. But I guess we all do huh? LOL
Take care Marijke and best of luck mate.

Sure do, my friend! But, there can only be one winner (or shared, I guess. Be good if we could share! Oh, well, can dream. Good luck anyway, and thanks for organising). Cheers, Marijke xxx :o)

I enjoyed reading your creative minimalist diagnostic acrostic Fiona, the artwork was a nice touch friend and your words pretty much some up the circus of political point scoring in the build up to any election anywhere, they are all the same...Shameful!

Thank you, Hitcher, yes, it is the same everywhere. Oh, well, two more weeks, then the vote. Warmest regards, my friend. Marijke

Excellent minimalist poem that is a strong contender in this contest. You applied the definition to the political arena and it works well. Will we ever learn that political candidates will say anything to win (they hope that the voters will forget). Best wishes, Hector

What a great definition of incompetence - idiots not changing - yep, that sums it up. A strong minimalist acrostic, my friend. All talk, no thought - yep, that really captures the essence of it all. Brooke :-)

well said Marijke, you just have to listen to the 'crap' that comes out of their mouths during election time, enough to want to turn the news off there and then. I knew there was a reason for not even turning on the tele.
your satirical acrostic is excellent, pretty much covers all the thoughts that one may utter during these times, as we watch the 'so called leaders to be' suck up to the world to gain votes... and I will forgive you on the monkey level..you're right the lovely little climbing guys do deserve a better image, but hey, these politicians do just monkey around after all. sending big smiles and best of luck in the contest Marijke.... happy voting ,, luv from occa melxxxx

'occa melxxx' you are just wonderful. Thank you for agreeing with my sentiments. For the first time in my life I have no idea who to vote for! Oh, well, I still have 2 1/2 weeks to make up my mind, I guess. And yes, I am sorry to use those beautiful monkeys (notice I used pictures of cartoon monkeys, didn't have the heart to use the photos of real monkeys!).
Have a lovely evening, my friend, with lots of laughter, peace and smiles. Warmest regards, hugs and smiles, Marijke
