A skilful fantasy post about this scary dragon sings and roars and then slips away into the cave where the harbour is dark and still, a fun post, great rhymes and flow and a joy to read, love Dolly x x x

Kimbob, this is amazing storytelling and to such detail too. You bring this awesome dragon to life and it shows such creativity on your behalf. Well done, my friend.
Thanks for bringing out the little girl in me again and actually had me singing along. Wonderful artwork too!

I must ask you when you pull out an old one from the past, do you ever have to do a little fixing?
I find that every time I do it shows how much I have learned in my time here.
Love, Debi

    Hi Debi,
I wrote this one in 2010, the year I joined Fanstory. I was 60 years old. I'm 73 now, and I think I've improved as a writer. But I didn't touch up this gem from the past. I just wanted to share it with so many new members, and hopefully make it an All Time Best... which your review pushed it to!
Thanks for your kind review, and the gift of stars!
    Hugs,

And who says a dragon can't sing? I am sure Bilbo and Frodo would have preferred this scaled creature to the one they faced in Lord of the Rings. This was an enjoyable tale.

    Hi Kevin,
Thanks so much for your kind review, and the gift of stars! I hurt my lower back on Sunday, slipping in mud on the Grand Bay Trail. But I wanted to post something special for my fans, so they wouldn't think I've left Fanstory. I just can't sit in this chair very long... oh the pain! I consider this poem one of my ten best ever, (and I've written a lot of poems).
    Cheers,

This poem is actually a ten if we could give that many stars. I just love this dragon tale and you take the reader on an adventure with your words. I can see the dragon clearly and love that she sings a song. This is a poem I will want to read again and again. You have created a wonderful fantasy poem that takes the reader to another place.

I hurt my back on Sunday, so I can't sit in this chair for very long. Too much pain! But I wanted to post something extra special for my fans so they won't think I've left Fanstory. This poem from 2010 is one of my top ten favorites, yet it only has 22 reviews (now 23). Hopefully, it will have 26 very soon.

Kim, This is so fun and beautifully crafted in sea green. Love the dragon art. I see your talent is from old and as deep as the dragon's world below. Just precious, my talented friend. I sent you some pumps to make up for my lack of a most deserving six. My best to you all, and blessings abundant.

You don't have to be a child to enjoy this poem. You are a great storyteller and you have really taken your time to develop the details here. My favorite part about this piece is the little twist - the dragon is not scary at all, but beautiful, and is living in harmony with nature. Well done...

What a wonderful poem. There's a rhythm to the words, a story well told.
I love the colorful descriptions
"Mouth of fire, darting tongue,
Orange eyeballs, scales of green;
Glistening white, her teeth are strung,
A yellow-bellied squirmy Queen."

A lively folktale that that enthralls and entertains:)
Well done:)

This is a good allusion. I like when writing draws out the fantasy in the natural world.

I'm not a poet, but it seems this work stays true to a 1-2 rhythme, as I'm sure it was designed.

Your poem is well written and rich in imagery. You make effective use of the poetic devices alliteration and metaphor in your writing. Your rhymes great and descriptive writing is very good. I especially enjoyed the lines: "But then, a melody so rare Rises up from ocean brine! Haunting echoes everywhere, How magically they intertwine! The ocean sways as Dragon sings, Tides rising to the highest note. Back and forth, the sea world swings In eddies round her slimy throat." The art work you used matched your excellent fantasy poem. I enjoyed the story your poem told of the Dragon of Dark Harbor.

Through mists of time, tales of dragons have always captured the imagination - this is one such and ideal for children - of all ages - to enjoy - easy flowing with good rhyming sequence - story carries reader forward with great words and phrases - especially liked description of dragon with terrifying roar - and the last verse keeps the legend alive - great read ...Brad.
