Friendships grow through thick and thick of the relationship. It is aquaintances that come and go. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an easy read.

A very forgiving story. However, you had a right to be angry. Your friend put her self-centeredness (read lust) before your friendship. I don't know if I could be that forgiving. Certainly the confusion of the children had to be taken into account, which you do well. You are right and it is something few people notice--time doesn't heal all wounds; the battle scars will always be there.

Truly, this is one of the most moving stories I've ever read. Beautifully expressed, it evokes the deepest emotions in the reader and causes one to reexamine one's own relationships. Thank you!

This work has reached the exceptional level

Two reasons for the rating. For one, I didn't find any errors, and two; wow, that's a hell of a situation to deal with. I can't blame the writer for being angry. God only knows I certainly would be. But the fact is, life is fleeting at times, we never know when someone will be taken from us. The saying is true, you don't know what you have until it's gone. Conflicting emotions rarely take that into account. Anyhow, nicely done and moving. :)

A very touching story. It is so sad that so many of us hold on to anger, when we should be trying to realise whats important in life, and remember how short that life can be. Very poignant and very well written.

Sometimes life becomes a cruel joke. Your sad story is being enacted even now with different names and with different people. Disloyalty, distrust and an utter disgust with life and the lemons it deals out to us is the essence of your story. Why does it have to be tragedy to bring people together? Your anger is justified but after years of not coming to terms with it why do you feel the need to connect now? Why did you not learn to forgive and forget? Why did you not give the other woman your fast friend to tell her side of the story? Too late. Some where I have written a poem about forgiveness. If you get a chance do read it. As a work of writing, you have done a very good job, As a story of your life --it is sad, messed up. What more can I say? Gooloom

I totally related to this. I too had a best friend once who became my ex's wife. But, we managed to remain somewhat friends, it was never the same relationship it once had been. Very nice read.

Hi Janilou,

What a heart-breaking story. I am so sorry that your friend is ill but glad you saw the error of not letting her back into your life. However, you had no way of knowing about her illness until you got the call. We all make mistakes and I hope you can keep her in your life for as long as possible. You wrote this very well and even though sad I enjoyed it. Blessings, chey

WOw, this well, really stinks, not the story, the situation. That must have been a tough pill to swallow. YOu are a curagous woman my friend. It takes a lot to write about it also, at least in public. I hope your friend gets this.

trying to be strong(-,) for everyone else, and I admire you for that
