I really like this, because I can relate to it! I imagine quite a few people can... wouldn't actually class myself as a "poet" but emotions crashing about in my heart and coming out via words on paper (or through keyboard to computer screen!) is a very accurate description. Like it like it like it!

Good luck in this contest you have entered. I think you have a good chance since this is good with imagery and word usage is very nice. Great poem and keep on writing.

Shelley - I just got a laugh, not from your poem but from your "about Shelley Kaye". A co-worker came up behind me and tried to brush your tiny cockroach off my screen.

I really liked your poem. I'm always amazed how good poets take a tight constraint of "rules" and it doesn't faze them at all. Describing a poet the way you did is brilliant. Of course, I write mostly prose, and think us on that side suffer the same.

Hullo Shelley Kaye ....

Your tame Fly really is a source of distraction!!
I like what you have written here about Poets, especially the bit about 'words crashing in their hearts.'
Thank you for sharing this with us and, as it is a Contest entry, I wish you well.
With love from ..... Nanette Mary.

I thoroughly enjoyed your "oceans" metaphor with the word-waves "crashing." I can relate! Best wishes in the cinquain contest.

Very good cinquain. There are moments when the silent words we put on the page resonate with the reader. And there are also moments when the words flow from page to eye to mind like a slow, summer-kissed river. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

words crashing in their hearts (I liked this line best, and then I read the next line. Then I thought perhaps the second line was best.)

I liked your poem.

shelley kaye,
your cinquain poetry is in perfect form and your syllable count is spot on of 2/4/6/8/2. Excellent tribute to poets. Great us of metaphors with the terms 'words crashing in their hearts' and 'oceans of emotion.' Your cinquain poem titled 'poets' is a fabulous entry in the contest. Good luck talented poet.
Melissa.
